毛崑崙花

毛崑崙花 （ケコンロンカ）


リンドウ目、アカネ科、コンロンカ属に属す
ツル性の常緑低木で、渓谷の雑木林や丘陵地
などに自生する植物である。


咲いた黄花の引立役の様な白い學片が特徴的
な美を示す植物。


半夏生 （ハンゲショウ） という植物も花横に
白飾りがあるのだが、このケコンロンカも同様
共に苞（ホウ）という部位がこの様に白くなる。

これは花の萼 （ガク） の一部が巨大化してこの
様になっているもの。洋名はこの苞の白さから
ハンカチに見立て『ハンカチの花』の名が付く。

KEKONRONKA

It belongs to the family Gesneriaceae and the genus Oreocharis in the order Lamiales. It is a woody vine, a type of evergreen shrub, that grows in various habitats such as valley scrub forests and hilly areas.

This plant exhibits distinctive beauty with white bracts resembling the role of a flower's lead actor amid its blooming yellow flowers.

Another plant called Hange-sho (Oreocharis hancei) also has white adornments alongside its flowers, similarly to the Oreocharis konungii. Both have bracts that turn white, which are actually enlarged parts of the calyx, giving them this appearance.

In English, these plants are metaphorically called "Handkerchief Flowers" due to the resemblance of their white bracts to handkerchiefs.
