山茱萸（サンシュユ）


ミズキ科、ミズキ属の多年生植物


もう蕾がほころび始め、まもなく開花した姿
が来週にでも見ることが出来そうである。


日本では新たな紙幣発行開始が今年７月３日、
一万円札は『近代日本経済の父』渋沢栄一、
五千円札は『日本初米国女留学生』津田梅子、
千円札は『破傷風の治療法開発』北里柴三郎、
が新たなお札の顔となる。


その紙幣の原材料となるのは、日本ではこの
山茱萸（サンシュユ）を材料にする。擦れや
折れなどに対する耐久性、そして印刷適正と
他のどの材料よりも優れているからである。


ただし、日本国内産のものでなく強度が優れ
品質も良い事からベトナム産の山茱萸なのだ
そうである。


また、近々、山茱萸の花も撮影して載せたい
と思っている。

SHAN ZHU YU

With buds already beginning to open, it seems that we'll be able to witness its blooming next week.

In Japan, the issuance of new banknotes began on July 3rd this year. The 10,000 yen note features Eiichi Shibusawa, known as the "Father of Modern Japanese Economy," the 5,000 yen note showcases Umeko Tsuda, the first Japanese woman to study in the United States, and the 1,000 yen note highlights the contributions of Shibasaburo Kitasato in developing treatment for tetanus.

The material used for these banknotes in Japan is the Japanese spindletree (Sanshuyu). Its durability against wear and tear, as well as its superior printing suitability, make it the preferred material over others.

However, it's worth noting that the Japanese spindletree used is not domestically sourced; it is the high-quality and strong variety from Vietnam.
