人類の愛にあふれる収穫期はいつ訪れるのか

収穫期。
昨日のブログでいくつかの愛のメッセージ曲をランダムに紹介したが、その最後にお送りしたのが、アイズレイ・ブラザーズの「ハーヴェスト・フォー・ザ・ワールド」だ。これはアイズレーのものとしては比較的珍しい「社会派コメンタリー」を持ったメッセージ・ソングだ。ギターのアーニーが歌詞のほとんどを書いたとされている。

ここでいう「ハーヴェスト＝収穫期」は、例えばお米や農作物の収穫期が本来の意味だが、それが広義に「実（みのり）ある世界」として歌われる。愛が強欲のために失われる、あらゆる強欲がすべてを破壊することを描く。「収穫期（ハーヴェスト）」とは、種を蒔いて、一生懸命育てて、やっといい作物が出来上がり、収穫できることを意味する。平和な世界も一筋縄では育っていかないが…。
先日のタック＆パティーのライヴを見ていた時にも感じていたが、本当に世界中にあんな風に愛があふれていれば、何も憎しみの連鎖なんか訪れないはずだと思った。だが現実の世界はそうではない。
