小耳に挟む（こみみにはさむ）
It is used to express accidentally overhearing someone else's conversation or obtaining information.

小耳に挟んだところによると、もうすぐ社長が交代するらしいです。
こみみにはさんだところによると、もうすぐしゃちょうがこうたいするらしいです。
According to what I overheard, it seems that the president of the company will soon be replaced.

鯖を読む（さばをよむ）
It is an expression used to describe falsifying the count of things or one's age to suit one's convenience.

彼女はパーティーで知り合った人たちに自分の年齢を鯖を読んで若く伝えていたが、偶然知り合いがいて本当の年齢がバレてしまった。
かのじょはぱーてぃーでしりあったひとたちにじぶんのねんれいをさばをよんでわかくつたえていたが、ぐうぜんしりあいがいてほんとうのねんれいがばれてしまった。
She lied about her age to the people she met at the party, making herself younger, but her real age was accidentally revealed by an acquaintance who was there.

尻拭い（しりぬぐい）
 It refers to the task of cleaning up or rectifying mistakes or problems caused by others.

部下のミスの尻拭いに追われて、一日中忙しかった。
ぶかのみすのしりぬぐいにおわれて、いちにちじゅういそがしかった。
I was busy all day doing damage control for a mistake made by my subordinate.
