■航空公園駅 Koku koen Station

1911年、所沢に飛行場ができました。それは日本で初めての飛行場でした。
TOKOROZAWA airfield was opened in 1911. This was the first airfield in Japan.

その飛行場はその後、航空記念公園になりました。この駅から歩いて行くことができます。
After the airfield was closed it was renovated as Tokorozawa Aviation Memorial Park “KOKU KINEN KOEN”. You can walk to the park from this station.

駅のデザインは、フランス製の飛行機、アンリ・ファルマン号に見えます。
Let’s see the building of KOKU KINEN station from outside. It looks like the French aircraft, called “Henri Farman”.

所沢はフランスから飛行機のことをたくさん教わりました。
People in Tokorozawa have learned a lot about aircrafts from France.

はじめてのパイロットは徳川大尉でした。アンリ・ファルマン号で空を飛びました。
Captain TOKUGAWA was the first pilot. He flew the “Henri Farman” aircraft.

駅の中には「アンリ・ファルマン」という名前でカフェやパン屋があります。
There is a café and a bakery both named “Henri Farman” in the building.
