スコットランド、首相辞任による後任選出で、財務相・保健相らが出馬表明。

ヨーロッパ経済ニュースEUROPE NNAは2023年02月21日にスコットランド行政府のニコラ・スタージョン(Nicola Ferguson Sturgeon, First Minister of Scotland)首相が先に、行政府首相およびSNP(Scottish National Party/スコットランド民族党)を辞任すると発表したことを受け、SNPは翌2023年02月16日、６週間以内に新党首を選出すると発表した。

2023年02月24日まで候補者の立候補を受け付け、2023年03月13～27日に党員による投票を行う。なお、出馬希望者は立候補までに、100人以上の推薦を集める必要がある。

同行政府のケート・エリザベス・フォーブス財務相(Finance Minister Kate Elizabeth Forbes)やフムザ・ユースフ保健相(Health Minister Humza Yousaf)らが党首選に出馬すると表明した。さらに、スコットランド行政府の地域安全担当閣外相を務めていたアッシュ・リーガン(Ash Regan)が名乗りを上げた。

一方、後任候補として名前が挙がっていたスウィニー副首相(Scottish Executive Deputy Prime Minister John Swinney)とアンガス・ロバートソン元SNP副党首(SNP Deputy Leader Angus Robertson)は、出馬を否定している。
