We need to be careful of heat stroke, but we also need to be aware of the difference in temperature, as some people may get sick or sick to their stomachs in the air conditioner.

"Katei Farm (home vegetable garden)" is newly released within the 保けん野菜（Hoken Yasai) Service, in which CRAZYTANK is involved as an advisor.

This service provides the necessary follow-up for those who want to grow vegetables on their balcony or in their garden.

Prior to the service launch, "Katei Farm (home vegetable garden)" project has been conducted with several subscribers. Recently, several vegetable seedlings died in the "Katei Farm (home vegetable garden)"of a CRAZYTANK member.

We assume that this is precisely the effect of the recent heat.

Since last year was also extremely hot, we asked our 保けん野菜（Hoken Yasai) partner farmers how they spent summer.

What was heard was the following farmer's voice.

“In the future, it will be difficult to grow vegetables in the summer.. We are considering closing the fields for the summer.“

“To cope with the heat, water tanks had to be trucked around to fields that normally did not need watering. Some staff members had to work until 11:00 p.m. because of the increased workload.“

We thought we had to make this current situation our own, so we started the "Katei Farm (home vegetable garden)" Project around January of this year and have been growing some vegetables on our balcony. Since that time, we also had the objective that we too needed to take a good look at what happens in the summer.

We have continued to grow a variety of vegetables relatively smoothly, albeit by trial and error, but the heat of the past two weeks has weakened them all at once.

The environment in which vegetables are grown in planters on balconies in the city is different from the environment in which they are grown in farmers' fields.

The difference is that the temperature of the soil in summer is lower than the outside temperature (geothermal heat), and a field is still a more appropriate environment for vegetables to grow than a planter.

Still, it is said that this year will be hotter than last year, and the impact on agriculture will be immeasurable. This is more than confirmed by looking at our "Katei Farm (home vegetable garden)" vegetables.

We feel saddened and disappointed just to see a few vegetables on our balcony lying limp, so we can only imagine what the farmers are going through.

Because we are in a position where we cannot stop eating every day, we believe it is important for us to continue to take concrete action on the future issues of food, even if it is small actions on our own, while still carefully receiving the vegetables that are the result of the efforts of farmers.

"Katei Farm (home vegetable garden)" Plan continues to be updated from time to time as we consider various initiatives, such as trying to choose items that can be grown in a room during the too-hot months. We are proud to say that those who participate in the program certainly have the knowledge and experience to build on as they continue to grow.
