トロピカルファサード

聖クリストファーが寄り掛かるのは大きなココナッツの木。たくさんの実を付けたマンゴーやパパイヤなどのトロピカルフルーツの木々が楽園の豊かさ表している。

ユネスコの文化遺産ミアガオ教会のファサードの彫刻はとてもユニークだ。

ファサードの右翼には鐘楼が、左翼の回廊部には教会の騎士団が常駐した。大きく切り出された珊瑚石(ライムストーン)が、教会が堅固な砦であったことを物語っている。

ミアガオが世界遺産で有名に成るもっと前から有名だったのが、ミアガオの海塩。海からの贈り物、天然天日干しの海塩だ。

竹を割って並べたトレイに、海水を注ぎ、3日かけて造る粗塩は甘みの強い海塩。地元のマーケットでも探すのが難しい程の希少な逸品だ。

パナイで塩と言えばミアガオソルト｡3銘柄あるミアガオソルトの中でもブドブドの味わいは特別。1kg1,200php～の値段も頷ける最高の天然の海塩だ。

聖クリストファーが寄りかかったココナッツの木の向こうに煌めくパナイ島の海の恵みは、正に天の恵みなのだ。

St. Christopher is leaning against a large coconut tree. The abundance of tropical fruit trees such as mangoes and papayas, which bear a lot of fruit, represent the richness of paradise.

The sculptures on the facade of the Miag-ao Church, a UNESCO cultural heritage site, are very unique.

The right wing of the church has a bell tower, while the left wing of the facade was manned by the Knights of the Church. The large hewn coral stone (limestone) tells us that the church was a solid fortress.

Even before Miag-ao became famous as a World Heritage site, it was famous for its sea salt. A gift from the sea, it is natural sun-dried sea salt.

The coarse salt is made by pouring seawater into trays made of half-cutted bamboo and then drying it for three days. The salt is sold out at local markets. It's so good that it's hard to find.

Budbud salt, is the best of the three brands of Miag-ao Salt, and the price is 1,200php up per kg is understandable.

The blessings of the sea on Panay, shimmering beyond the coconuts trees that St. Christopher leaned on, are truly blessing.
