Creating Tier 1 decks / PTCGL

This may be too much but in case you get interests in playing with so called “Tier 1 decks (or 2,3)”, here are steps I found in Japanese articles.

But it costs about $50 so not needed and recommended till you have interests.

For ref, I am enjoying with 4 top tier decks after 1 week of playing.

What’s “Tier 1 decks”

Tier 1 decks are the strong decks used frequently by ranked players. Below is just an example of the Tier in Japan games in Dec’23.
In PTCGL, still standard is cards with E/F/G till Mar21, 2024 so Tier is like below. Cards with “E” will not be able to use anymore after Mar21, 2024 so as already in Japan.

Refer more about Standard Rotation below. We call it “regulation change” in Japanese but it seems its “standard rotation” in English I guess.

Flow to create Tier 1 decks

Challenge:

To create Tier 1 decks, it takes time if to collect all the required cards from online packs, or collecting hexagon coins which is needed to exchange them to desired card.

Approach:

Hexagon coins (the one the right top on the screen) can be gained when you obtained 5th card of each. In PTCGL, we can only have 4 cards each on our hands and the others will be exchanged to hexagon coins.
Approach is to purchase online packs which has least varieties in the pack so that we get lots of duplicates efficiently. As of now, it is the “CELEBRATION” pack.
By roughly spending $50, we can gain about 10,000 hexagon coins which is about 1-1.5 tier 1 decks can be made.

Find Celebration pack

Find Celebrations pack above. You may want to buy the bundle pack one.
I bought 50 packs which was with $42.5 which was about ¥6,400 (as of Mar’24, $1=¥150).
You’ll recieve codes. You’ll use this one in PTCGL app.

Put the code in PTCGL

Follow below.

“SHOP”
→ “REDEEM”
→ “MORE INFORMATION”
→ “SIGN IN”
→ Put the codes and “Submit code”

Reopening the PTCGL app, you can now enjoy opening the packs :)

Find Tier 1 decks

Visit LIMITLESS

LIMITLESS website tracks the ranking of top tier decks based on actual games. For example, Charizard (リザードン) ex is the top tier deck as of Mar’24.
Choose the one you want to create. If no pref, Charizard may be recommended, quite simple to use yet strong.
*watch out: Many decks need regulation chnage in end-Mar. Gardevoir, Miraidon, Mew has key cards which will be obsoleted.

Blue: Almost no impact
Green: Can repair
Yellow: Depends on new cards
Red: Difficult to repair
Gray: Retire by end of “E” regulation

Copy deck from LIMITLESS to PTCGL

Once you defined your deck, you will be copying the deck and pasting to PTCGL.
For example if you choose it to be Charizard, click it.

Then you see players with dofferent decks. Choose 1 of them. Then find “Copy to Clipboard”.

Pasting to PTCGL

Go to
“DECKS”
→ “CREATE A DECK”
→ “IMPORT”
then the deck will be pasted.

Generating required cards by coins

You’ll see lots of cards with red circle icon. That means you dont yet have that cards. You’ll be generating those cards with the hexagon coins you earned.

There are 2 ways to get that card.

First, check if you have that card in different version. In PTCGL, even it looks a same card, if pack code on the left bottom is different, then it is categorized that yiu dint own them. If you have them, simply replace with that. This process is a bit complicated, so will summarize in the different page.

If you didnt have, you’ll be generating the cards with the coins. Quite simple process. You just click “EXCHANGE” then you’ll get the cards and lose the hexagon coins.

Watch out again if doing this in Mar’24. Card with “E” regulations will not be able to use soon in PTCGL.
