Earthquake In Turkey

I was slow with the news because I have been studying for my engineering certificate while working but I recently checked the news of a disaster that occurred in Turkey, a 7.8 magnitude earthquake that hit them in the middle of the night with deaths rising in the thousands. It's really scary that mother nature has the ability to cause such damage within a matter of minutes. Imagine sleeping and feeling intense shaking in your house which you thought was safe but the next thing you know, you are stuck in rubble and are severely injured. I have attached a video of a person recording the earthquake while it happened, intense shaking which then follows with a blackout due to the power lines being damaged.

There were also many strong aftershocks ranging between magnitude 6 to 7.6 which is crazy to think about. I really hope the casualties will stop at its current state and not increase any further, I hope the ones that are lost will be found within the next day or two because it is freezing in Turkey at the moment. I am fortunate that I have only experienced one earthquake in Hawaii that was a 5.4 magnitude earthquake that I still remember how the events occurred to this day. Since I live in an apartment, I thought our buildings were going to fall but it was simply me over exaggerating.  May the others that have left this earth rest in peace.
