March 12, 2022：電卓、四則演算、数学、関数電卓、 (Calculators, Four Arithmetic Operations, Mathematics, Scientific Calculators)

 I used to use a calculator for work. It was essential for making documents with numbers. Since I began to use spreadsheets on my PC, I have seldom used a calculator for work. Nevertheless, I still put a calculator next to my PC and use it a few times a week. It seems that I still need it.
 In Japan, calculators are mainly used to add, subtract, multiply and divide. But, in the United States and Europe, scientific calculators are used in mathematics class. They are used to calculate numbers and equations for saving wasting time. As a result, students must buy a scientific calculator. They can buy it at a far more affordable price than a PC. They will not cease to exist.

　昔は、電卓は仕事で欠かせない道具でした。数字を扱う資料を作成には欠かせないものでした。ところが、パソコンが普及し、Excelを使うようになってからは、電卓を使う回数はめっきり減りました。でも、ボクのパソコンの隣にはいまだに電卓があります。そして、毎週、数回は使っています。電卓はまだ必要なようです。
　日本では、電卓は主に四則演算のために使われていますが、欧米では数学の授業で関数電卓が使われています。計算は関数電卓に任せ、無駄な時間を省くがためです。そのため、生徒は関数電卓を必ず購入しなければなりません。電卓はパソコンよりはるかにお手頃な価格で買えます。電卓が消えて亡くなることはなさそうです。
