May 16, 2022: COVID-19, Wearing Mask, Infected in Lift （コロナ、マスク着用、エレベーターで感染）

 Amid the COVID-19 outbreak, there are conflicts over wearing a mask within the government and between the government and experts. Some say that wearing a mask is not required when outside, but others say it is too early. I do not mind whether the government choose either way since I cannot go out without wearing a mask. I must use a lift to leave my apartment. If I do not wear a mask in it, I will get funny looks.
 The Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare see little risk of being infected in a lift thanks to ventilation. However, I don't take the words. I have an acquaintance who is likely to have been infected with COVID-19 there. He has yet to identify where he was infected. But he is sure that he got infected in the lift or a dump in his apartment. Except for that time, he had not gone out for a week since he had worked at home. He has recovered fully but had a forty-degree fever at the time of the infection.
 Infection cases in Japan have remained high. Okinawa hit record infection cases. We still must be careful of the infection. I will at least continue wearing a mask over the mouth indoors and the chin outdoors.

　コロナ禍の中、屋外でマスクを付けるかどうかで、政府内、そして政府と専門家の間でもめているようです。どちらでもかまいませんが、ボク自身は、引き続きマスクを常に身に付けて出ます。外出するときに、マスクなしで出かけるわけにいきません。マンションのエレベーターを使うためです。エレベーター内でマスクをしていないと周りの人から冷たい目で見られそうです。
　厚生労働省は、エレベーターには換気設備があるため感染リスクは高くないとあります。でも、これを真に受けることはできません。エレベーターで感染した可能性が高い知り合いがいるからです。本人は、エレベーターかゴミ置き場のどちらかで感染したと確信しています。それ以外は、一週間ずっと家で仕事をしていたからです。今は元気ですが、感染時は40度の熱が出たそうです。
　また、感染者数は依然として高いです。沖縄では感染者数が過去最高になっています。まだまだ用心は必要です。屋内では口に、屋外ではあごにマスクを付ける続ける必要があるようです。
