英語日記 No.51
Hello, Diary,
A few weeks ago, I stumbled upon an inspiring YouTube video by the United Nations about the zero waste town Osaki in Kagoshima Prefecture. Despite having read countless articles about environmental issues, this was the first time I heard about Osaki's initiatives. It was wonderful to see how the community works together to recycle waste. The video shows how residents sort their waste into 27 different categories. I was totally astonished by the number of categories; what's more, they are recycled properly. In my area, the number of categories is only eight.
Additionally, I was amazed by the town's way of collecting and composting food waste at the plant. The process doesn't require the use of chemicals or any other substances and relies solely on active microorganisms. I think that Osaki's process is the ultimate goal for all communities worldwide.
Thank you for reading my diary.
