英文翻訳の注意点

2019/2/1にECFMGからこのようなメールが届く。どうも卒業大学から卒業証明の英文のものを送付されたが、翻訳業者がOfficialでないとダメらしい。
これは、Step1/2,OETと試験に合格後、ECFMG Certificateを取得段階になって気づいたので、ここは注意ポイントです！

As is published in the ECFMG Information Booklet, current ECFMG medical education credential policy requires that applicants for ECFMG certification submit copies of their final medical diploma. If the final medical school diploma is not in English, the document must be accompanied by an official English translation as described in the ECFMG Information Booklet.

Please submit to ECFMG a photocopy of the following credentials:
· Official English translation of your medical diploma

You may submit the requested document via mail or e-mail as a PDF attachment:

2019/2/16に再度OASISにアクセスすると、上記のStatus　「Not received」が消えていたので

すっかり安心していましたが、後であわてることに。
この後、Step1, Setp2、OETと順調に受験していたのですが、ECFMGを申請？する段階になって、この英文証明に不備があることが発覚！っていうか、教えてくれ～って思いましたけどね。甘くないですね。

英語の翻訳について

ここはちょっと時系列が飛びます　約２年後の2021/5/24 OASISのサイトを確認すると
「Medical education credentials not received」に戻ってる？何これ？ ？　卒業証明書？
軽くパニック。ECFMGにメールするも、すぐに「コロナ禍で大変忙しいので、今個別の対応はできないからWebを見て」と自動返信のメールがくるのみで、電話しても留守電で、今忙しいからWeb見てね、じゃっ、的にブチっと切れる。

ネットサーチすると、こちらの解説ページを発見
ここを見つけた。懇切丁寧に、同じ箇所で躓いた対処法を書いてくださっていたので、ありがたく、Strakerという翻訳ページを使わせてもらった。
ECFMGの公式HPで推奨していました。

ここに卒業証書の逐語訳と、戸籍抄本の逐語訳（なぜなら結婚で卒業時と名前が変わっているため、証明が必要。アメリカでとれる結婚証明書が日本では戸籍抄本で代用になるため）を依頼する。

2021/5/25　USMLEからメールの返事がきた。来ないものと思ってたのでびっくり

Please be advised that ECFMG® will require a copy of your final medical diploma as well as a Word-For-Word English Translation if necessary. Please note that without both of these documents, ECFMG® cannot begin the process of your credential verification, which is required to become ECFMG Certified. You may submit these documents either through the MyECFMG Mobile Phone application or via email as a .PDF attachment to info@ecfmg.org .

Please note that you do not need to send the OET results to us yourself but you will need to make them available to ECFMG through the MyOET Portal. If you have any difficulty in completing this, please contact OET directly.

ということなので、英訳をe-mailで送り、かつMobile appからもアップロードした。
OET medicineの結果はすぐ連携して伝わるんでいいんですよ（OETのHPから手続きする必要あり）、でも、この英文のと、卒業大学から再度郵送してもらったのですが、2ヶ月経っても、届きました、の承認がなかなかされず、2021/9月ごろにECFMG電話したら、今度はなんと電話が通じて、
「まだ日本から届いてない？」と聞くと、ないと、最初言っていたのが、「いやいや、大学から郵便物追跡でそちらが受け取ってることは分かってるんですぜ」と食い下がったところ、あら、ここになんか郵便物来てる、みたいな話になり、まあアメリカあるあるなのですが、そこで再チェックしてもらえることになりました。ようやくECFMGのプロセスがすすんだのでした。なので、英語逐語訳は早めに依頼しましょう。
