Xu Xueyuan delivers a keynote speech at the USCBC virtual conference themed on "Forecast 2023" , CGTN, Feb. 10, 2023.

In her speech, Xu said that the world political and economic situation has undergone profound changes in the past few years, and China has been striving to provide stability to the world through clear signals, coherent policies and sustained actions. China's continued opening up is full of new development and new hopes, and will provide businesses from all over the world, including American businesses, with opportunities from "China's big market", "institutional opening-up" and "deepening international cooperation", she added.

Xu highlighted the achievements China has made in its economic development over the past three years, and said that China's economy will achieve an overall recovery and become an important driving force for global growth in 2023, as China's epidemic control measures are optimized and various measures to stabilize expectations and boost confidence are implemented.

In addition, Xu pointed out the win-win nature of China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation will not change, and will still play the role of "stabilizer" in bilateral relations. The bilateral trade volume between China and the United States is nearly $760 billion, and over 70,000 American businesses have invested and developed in China, with an annual revenue of $700 billion, profits of $50 billion, and bilateral investment stock of $240 billion. However, Xu also said that a series of measures the U.S. has imposed to restrict exports to China hinder normal bilateral economic and trade exchanges, and harm others and are of no benefit to itself.

Xu reiterated that the model of deep industrial integration and highly complementary trade between China and the United States has long been established. China-U.S. economic and trade cooperation is based on the mutual needs of the two peoples, and a healthy, stable and cooperative China-U.S. economic and trade relationship is in the interests of the United States itself. In the past, at present and in the future, China-U.S. economic and trade relations will continue to play an important role in bilateral relations.

In the new year, China look forward to working with the U.S. to turn the key consensus agreed by Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden during their meeting in Bali into concrete policies and actions, Xu emphasized. She also said that China-U.S. relations have recently faced new difficulties due to the unintended entry of a civilian airship into U.S. airspace, and added that the incident should not affect the efforts made by the both sides to maintain the stability of bilateral relations. Finally, Xu hoped that friends in the U.S. business community will make good use of China's opening-up policy, curb negative factors that undermine cooperation, jointly promote China-U.S. relations back on track, and provide greater certainty and stability for the development of China-U.S. economic and trade relations.
