Hello, I'm BowGriP Rakuyuubi, your travel companion. This time, I visited Yamashina Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture, where Japanese history and natural beauty live. Yamashina Ward is known as the eastern gateway to Kyoto, and is an area with attractive ancient temples and natural scenery.

First, we visited Fushimi Inari Taisha. This is the head shrine of the Inari Shrines, which number about 30,000 nationwide, and is a popular spot that attracts the most worshippers of any shrine or temple in the Kinki region during the New Year's visit. The approach lined with red torii gates seems to invite you to another world.

Next, we headed to Shogunzuka. This is a place where you can get a great view of Kyoto City, and the view at dusk is especially breathtaking. This place with a sense of history makes visitors think back to the Heian period.

Yamashina Ward is also home to the Yamashina Canal. This canal, built in the Meiji era to bring water from Lake Biwa into Kyoto, is now a popular walking path for locals. You can enjoy especially beautiful scenery during cherry blossom season.
