#011 Family x Change the daily life of three members and a pet with a single wal

1. The trigger: Participation in an online seminar on apartment renovation

The Martin Mendo family, who were going through a change in their family life and aiming to create a lifestyle that truly suits them, were considering purchasing a pre-owned apartment or detached house. They had been browsing several renovation companies' websites during their research. It appears that they knew about Blue Studio and attended the apartment renovation online seminar that was being offered at the time.
*Please note that the online seminars are currently not being held.

2. Real estate hunting: Choosing a property with renovation in mind

They approached Blue Studio for assistance in their property search with specific criteria such as "Taito Ward area," "living with their beloved cat," and "environment. They had a clear idea of their budget and the area they wanted to live in, and within about two months, we found an apartment that fit the requirements. It was a 20-year-old 2LDK apartment in the heart of the city. Since the interior had been completely reformed at the time of purchase and was in excellent condition, they decided not to renovate immediately and opted to observe the situation for a while.

3. Renovation: The Priorities

One year after moving in, as the child growing, they approached us with a request to create a dedicated children's room. Also, they became aware of the areas of the apartment that they wished to improve. Given that their apartment is relatively new, they decided to focus on partial renovation, preserving functional elements like the plumbing and entrance while renovating only the necessary areas.

4. Completion: Family life achieved through a wall

The major transformation was accomplished with the addition of just a single wall between the dining area and the bedroom, which was initially loosely separated by sliding doors. While it is common to remove dividers to create a more open and spacious living and dining area, in this case, we decided to create a wall to establish a dedicated private space.

5. New life: MURALLA

We adorned the wall with a door featuring traditional Japanese latticework, creating a striking and distinctive look. Also, we incorporated a mailbox, an entry and exit for the cat, and Arita porcelain pendant lights, which together gave the interior a cozy, homey atmosphere, akin to having a little house within the apartment. Installation of the cat steps on the side of the wall also allows the cat to navigate up and down. By making the most of both sides of the bookshelf, we successfully transformed the living space to cater to the needs of the three family members and their furry companion.
