【Sky Children of the Light】Hidden status "Scale"

Introduction

This article summarizes information about "Scale".

What is "Scale"?

In short, it is the innate talent of the avatar (Sky children).

"Scale" is a hidden status that is automatically assigned when creating an account, and its value differs for each player.

Also, there is no way to permanently change this value.

Relationship between "Size" and "Scale"

Size of avatar seems to be determined by "Height + Scale = Size ". This
rule was explained in Contact usⅠ in the link below.

In addition, there is also a fan-made easy-to-understand explanation.

Size difference between avatars due to "Scale"

This difference can be seen when using the in-game dress-up item "Chibi mask". Wearing this mask allows you to become "Chibi", a small stature that is normally unattainable with Resize Potion.

What's wrong with "Scale"?

The "Resize Potion" described in the above article permanently change avatar size, but in terms of internal data it changes the "Height" value of "Height + Scale = Size".

"Scale" is a hidden status that is automatically assigned when you create an account, and there is no way to permanently change this value.

In other words, no matter how many "Resize Potion" use, each player has a permanent Size that cannot be achieved depending on the "Scale" value.

For example, a player who can become Size 0 cannot become Size 14, and a player who can become Size 14 cannot become Size 0.

The worst unfaiar of system we've ever seen

I aimed for Size 0, which is the maximum size on Sky, and used over 500 "Resize Potion", but I have never been able to reach it.

Yes, this is "Scale".

Why does "Scale" exist?

ReasonⅠ

Why does “Scale” exist and is it a hidden status?
The reason is that there are concerns about avatar size.

There was a statement about avatar size on YouTube's official live broadcast, and the statement about this can be found at 17:53 in this video.

To summarize the statement
*I'm not good at English, so I'm retranslating the remarks that were translated into Japanese by the accompanying staff.

  • I am concerned that if people are allowed to freely choose their size, they will be biased toward the maximum/minimum size. So, I want people to love their natural size(scale).

  • I want you to trust your luck and accept unexpected results as part of your nature.

  • I don't want to see an unnatural gap in Size that changes rapidly.

ReasonⅡ

I received this answer when I made an inquiry about improving the "scale" along with the record of 308 out of a total of about 388 times I used "Resize Potion". The bullets below summarize that answer.

  • The size of the avatar is indeed associated with individual differences called "scales".

  • Since the scale is a trait the Sky kid gets born with, it cannot be changed - neither by Resize Potions, nor by us, the Support Team.

  • We understand that some players would like to have the liberty of choosing the desired height for their character.

  • Currently, there are no plans to allow players to change the height of their character other than by using temporary spells.

  • The differences in the character's height are an intended core feature of the game, as we want to respect the size of the Sky children as an individual characteristic, the same way height is an individual characteristic for us as human beings and we do not have any control over it.

  • We truly believe that each height (tallest, average, smallest) has its beauty, and we hope the community will learn to love and appreciate all of them as much as we do.

ReasonⅢ

Developer made this statement in the past on Sky official Discord.

The simple answer? We don't want players to have the means to choose their exact height. This is 100% intentional and the wide variety of heights available is on purpose. To paraphrase our Creative Director: You can't choose your height in real life, and you can't choose your height in Sky. Is it unfair?yes, but it creates an opportunity to love yourself exactly how you are.

Summary

Player who want to be the max/min size but can't, have no choice but to envy those who can. Is it appropriate to game design that makes even me in the game have an inferiority complex? Can it be said that what is made in advance to become individuality is true individuality and beauty?
