Extinct idol "BAND SAURUS", all shrouded in mystery. What are the thoughts behind the last single"Meteorite, Dame, Zettai! ”

2023.02.10

The mysterious idol band BAND SAURUS, whose Instagram, launched before their debut, has more than 10,000 followers and has become the talk of the industry. After numerous offers for an interview via DM on Instagram, the BAND SAURUS' only contact, we succeeded in conducting the BAND SAURUS' first face-to-face interview with the help of Midorifuji, the interpreter of the BAND SAURUS. Where was this unique band, in which "all members are dinosaurs," born and where are they headed?

And what are the members' thoughts on their last single "Meteorite, No,
Zettai!” What are the thoughts behind the last single "Meteorite, No, Zettai!”

Interpreter Saurus Midorifuji

--Please tell us about the beginnings of "BAND SAURUS".

Blue Miso Soup: It all started when I saw "Zoorasian Brass" and "MAN WITH A MISSION" on YouTube. They were playing musical instruments, and their performance brought the meat (*BAND SAURUS calls the audience "meat") gathered at the venue to a boil. I had never been involved in music in my life, but when I saw that video, I thought, "If an animal can do it, then I can do it too...”

--Did you start with a lot of energy? (Laughs)

Blue Miso Soup broke the neck of his guitar while recording.

Blue miso soup: Yes (laughs). It is exactly what I call "young lizard's tail wagging. From there, I uploaded a video of myself singing on TikTok, not knowing what was right or wrong. I couldn't even play an instrument properly at the time, so it was a cappella. Now I think about it, it's a terrifying image to see a dinosaur suddenly singing a cappella (laughs).

(laughs) -- Yes. It is a bit startling.

Blue miso soup: As a result, it was a bit of a bad publicity stunt, but we got the message that there was a dinosaur who wanted to form a band, and that's how Tamori Akogare got in touch with us.

--Tamori Akogare, What kind of feelings did you have when you contacted Blue miso soup?

Tamori Akogare:  I had been playing music since I was a child. However, I had no intention of turning it into a career. Then I saw the Ao Miso Jiru video and realized that it wasn't that I didn't intend to make music my career, but that I was afraid of making music my career.

--What kind of "fear" is that?

Tamori Akogare: Fear that if it didn't work out as a job, I would have to say goodbye to the music I loved. That's the fear.

Blue miso soup: I understand a little (laughs).

Tamori Akogare: But if you take it for granted that "it might not work out, so I'll just stop," then your life will be in a glacial period for the rest of your life, won't it?

Tamori Akogare to talk about the time of the formation of the company with a sense of embarrassment.

Tamori Akogare: "I thought it was not a question of 'to do or not to do,' but rather, once you have decided to 'do' life, the only thing left is to 'keep improving or not to keep improving' until you get it right."

--I see. "There is no right answer at the start.

Tamori Akogare: Yes, that's right. That's exactly what happened with the "Blue miso soup" video. It's a complete flop (laughs).

Blue miso soup: "Hey!"

Tamori Akogare: When I saw Blue miso soup's attitude, I thought, "I'll worry about it after I start," and when I came to my senses, I contacted Blue miso soup. "Won't you be in a band with me?".

--How did you accept the contact from Tamori Akogare, Blue miso soup??

Blue miso soup: "Oh, okay."

Tamori Akogare: Why are you starting from the top (laughs)?

Blue miso soup: Because the first time is the crucial time (laughs). I thought this was the only time to create a hierarchical relationship.

--No loose ends (laughs). From there, how did you connect with Keiichi Yamada and Criminal?

Tamori Akogare: Keiichi was a waiter at a tavern I used to go to, so we had a connection to begin with.

Keiichi Yamada: It wasn't a very busy place, so I had a lot of time to talk with the customers, and I often talked about music there with Tamori Akogare.

Keiichi Yamada worked part-time at a tavern.

Keiichi Yamada: I was offered the chance to work as an employee from spring at a tavern that has taken very good care of me, but as a lone dinosaur, I felt it was too early to choose "stability". Isn't today the youngest day of your life?

Then the easiest day in your life to take on a challenge is also today, right? Just at that time, Tamori Akogare told me that he had formed a band, and I couldn't stand by and let it happen, so I completely destroyed the restaurant.

--So you destroyed the restaurant completely.

Keiichi Yamada: Yes. As I looked at the crumbling store, the manager said, "That's not quite right, is it?" But I knew that no matter how far I went, it was still my life. I thought I should decide whether or not to destroy it, so I completely destroyed the store.

Tamori Akogare: Didn't you also destroy the store next door?

Keiichi Yamada: Yes. Not just the store next door, but all the stores I had a relationship with were destroyed. By cutting off my retreat, I made up my mind.

--I see. Where did you connect with the criminal?

Criminal: I was running a dentist next to the tavern where Keiichi worked, but Keiichi crushed it and I lost my job. I had to support my family and was on the street when Tamori Akogare approached me and said, "Let's start a band," and I joined BAND SAURUS.

--Did you feel anxious about playing in a band while you had to support your family?

Criminal: Yes, I was. But the members threatened me, saying, "If you don't join the band, we will eat your family". So now I continue to be in the band to protect my family.

Criminal holding his family hostage.

--I see. Only you are treated pretty badly, OMAE?

Criminal: Yes. ...What, did you just say "OMAE"?
(*OMAE is directed at someone of lower status than the speaker. " OMAE" is also used between friends, but the word can be deemed as insulting if used incorrectly.)

--That's how BAND SAURUS was formed, and it became a hot topic on Instagram even before its debut. How did the members of the band take this?

BANDSAURUS Official Instagram

Blue Miso Soup: As for the installations, I really don't "feel it" because it has members other than us on it.

--...sorry. How many members do you have now?

Tamori Akogare: There are about 7,000. They will eventually become extinct, though.

Blue Miso soup: I would like to thank the members who are working hard on the installations. Because we haven't started our music career yet, the only income loss we have is from NFT and corporate projects for Insta.

Keiichi Yamada: As a band, corporate projects are important.

Criminal: I want money

Blue Miso soup: In reality, we have to eat a lot of meat to continue our music activities. So I want to increase my followers on Instagram and be found by more and more companies.

--Please tell us about BAND SAURUS' last single, "Meteorite, No, Zettai! I think it is quite a special case that your last single was decided before your debut.

Blue Miso soup: We are doomed to extinction by a meteorite impact. But we have not yet confirmed that we cannot change our fate. Maybe we can change it, maybe we can't. We don't know yet.

Tamori Akogare: Yes, and we believe in the power of music. The power of music we play may be able to change the trajectory of the meteorite. If that's the case, then we have no choice but to play music. With that message in mind, we are going to make "Meteorite, No, Zettai! with that message.

Keiichi Yamada: We are in the process of making it.

Criminal: I will make the best music and change the trajectory of the meteorite.

--What does sounding music have to do with the orbit of a meteorite?
