The DDS Volume 3 Chapter1 No3

This is Ochanomizu, Tokyo.

There’s the Tokyo International Hospital, across the Kanda River and facing Nikolai Hall.

Few people know that the hospital is one of the CIA's strongholds in Japan, and it has extraterritorial jurisdiction comparable to that of an embassy.

In one of the rooms.

“Lovely day but isn’t it a bit hot? Would you like me to turn on the AC?”

Nakajima put his hand on the half open window to shut it.

However, "Leave it be. I’d like to listen to all the sounds surround us." Yumiko, raise half of the body on the reclining bed, responds in a bashful voice.

A smile appears on her shapely lips under the bandages covering her eyes.

It was Professor Feed who brought the two into this hospital after their miraculous return from geostationary satellite orbit.

Of course, Feed's goal was to hide Nakajima's existence from the eyes of the Japanese government and people.

Nakajima is not only a hero, fought off the devils, but also a criminal who had created a digital summoning programs.

Even Professor Feed couldn’t predict what calamity would befall them if the world were to learn of their existence.

In addition to this, it has recently become clear that Yumiko's symptoms are quite serious.

There was a beautiful female teacher named Obara, who was made a servant of the devil by Nakajima and buried by Yumiko's psychic power. The lens of Yumiko's eye had already lost its function after being exposed to Obara’s vengeful bodily fluids.

Moreover, the poison that have entered the fundus of her eye was spreading a bruise on her lovely face that was unbecoming of her, despite several surgeries.

Modern medicine can’t stop its progression.

It was probably good that she herself couldn't see the changes in her appearance.

“It's like a dream, can spend time like this with you.”

Yumiko's voice was as sweet as a silver bell.

“I wish it’s just a dream.” Nakajima muttering in his heart and looked away from her.

The autumn breeze from the window brushed their hair, as if to heal their wounded hearts.

“Akemi-kun, isn’t it better let your father know that you are safe?"

Yumiko says, as if remembering.

“No," he said. “If I give my name, my father might become a target of the devil, like my mother.

“I don't think so. My parents are______

“Would you like to listen to music?" Nakajima softly interrupted Yumiko and turned on the audio equipment.

Yumiko doesn’t try to enter Nakajima's mind any further and whispered, "Yes, please your favorite songs,"

The solemn sound of flutes spread through the hospital room.

“What's this song called?"

“The Rite of Spring.”

“Stravinsky’s song? “

“Right, you know well.”

“Ah! I haven’t known, you love classical music.” Yumiko's voice sounded pleased.

“Well…Hubert Rose, playing the flute, is a jazz musician though.”

“Your knowledge is amazing. You know everything, not just computers. I want_ I’m glad you are close to me.”

Yumiko's hand crawls to the air in search of Nakajima.

At that time, he is beside the bed and kneeling down, so her hand touches his cheek.

“I want to see your face again."

Yumiko sighed.
The nurses at this hospital were well aware that Nakajima and Yumiko had special circumstances and were careful about what they said and did. But Yumiko has heard gossip about them on a moment's notice.

" I really envy her, to have such a beautiful boy nursing her so devotedly. I wonder what kind of relationship those two have?"

"I wouldn't mind going blind if I could be nursed by a nice boy like him."

For Yumiko, the praise for Nakajima was a joy, but also a burden.

“I know I can't see your face anymore.” A lonely voice said.

“I never think so."

“But______”

The moment Yumiko was to say something, Nakajima pressed his lips gently against Yumiko's, silencing her words.

“No matter what you looks like, I want and I should make you happy.”

His mind was focusing their future. But____

A white dove flying outside the window stared at Nakajima, who was torturing himself with feelings of redemption.
