SCBWIイベントのお知らせ：Listening to Trees制作話

先日の投稿でもお伝えしましたが、僕がイラストを担当しました絵本 'Listening to Trees'が10月22日に出版となります。その出版イベントとして、SCBWI(Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators)の日本支部が10月12日にイベントを主催して下さいます。

Creating a Picture Book Biography with Author Holly Thompson and Illustrator Toshi Nakamura

Holly Thompson and Toshiki Nakamura will share the process of creating the picture book, Listening to Trees: George Nakashima, Woodworker. Holly will recount her initial idea followed by research, visits to George Nakashima Woodworkers in Pennsylvania to observe, photograph and consult with George's daughter, and the drafts that led ultimately to the haibun form, acceptance of the manuscript, then revision and full development of back matter. Toshi will describe his process from accepting the assignment to working with art director, sketching roughs, developing the illustrations using iPad tools, then revising for nonfiction accuracy, and illustrating backmatter. Q&A will follow.

著者のHolly Thompsonも登壇します。Hollyはストーリー作り、リサーチ、ノンフィクションにおけるプロセス等のお話、僕はスケッチからのイラスト制作過程、伝記物における細かな正確性、iPadでの絵本作り等をお話しする予定です。
