Cows are soil doctors.

When cattle were grazed on abandoned farmland where the soil had become too hard for a tiller to enter, the soil became soft and pliable within a year.
After one year of grazing cattle, the soil became soft and plentiful.

Cattle eat well. Land covered with tall, hard grass becomes nothing but low grass in a month when cows enter.

Cattle have four intestines. Because it takes time to digest grass, they put the grass they eat back in their mouths, chew it, swallow it, and ruminate on it in their four stomachs, digesting and absorbing it as they go.
The stomachs of cattle contain many microorganisms that help them digest the high fiber content of the grass.
As they ruminate, the grass they eat ferments.
This becomes feces, which fertilizes the soil.

Grass from abandoned fields is not enough, so vegetable scraps from vegetable processing centers and fermented feed made from sake lees, okara (bean curd), etc., will also be given to the cattle as they see fit.
