1.  Western efforts to resolve the tensions over Ukraine are continuing.  The French President Emmanuel Macron met the German and polish leaders after talks in Moscow and Kiev.  He says the key is to end the conflict in eastern Ukraine but Kiev refuses to talk directly to the Russian-backed insurgents　（反乱兵）there.

ウクライナをめぐる緊張の解消に向けた欧米の取り組みが続いています。  フランスのマクロン大統領は、モスクワとキエフでの会談の後、ドイツとポーランドのリーダーと会談しました。彼は、ウクライナ東部の紛争を終わらせることが鍵であると言っていますが、キエフはそこにいるロシアに支援された反乱軍と直接対話することを拒否しています。

2.  Ottawa police have said volatile and determined demonstrators remain in
Canada's capital after nearly two weeks of disruption at the hands of lorry　（トラックの）drivers.  They've been leading protests against a federal vaccine mandate.  The city's in a state of emergencies police tried to contain the unrest.

オタワ警察によると、トラックの運転手による2週間近い妨害の後、カナダの首都には気性が荒く断固としたデモ隊が残っているとのことです。彼らは、連邦政府のワクチン義務化に反対する抗議活動を主導してきました。街は非常事態に陥り、警察は騒動を抑えようとしました。  

 
3.  Pope Benedict xvi has acknowledged there were errors in the handling of child abuse cases during his time as the archbishop of Munich.  But he didn't
address accusations in an official report that he had personally failed to take action against four priests who've been accused of sexually abusing children.

ローマ法王ベネディクト16世は、ミュンヘン大司教時代の児童虐待事件の処理に誤りがあったことを認めました。しかし、彼は 児童への性的虐待で告発された4人の神父に対して、個人的に対策を講じなかったという公式報告書の非難に言及しませんでした。
