The name of this ship was derived from Cypripedium, the scientific name of the genus ofan orchid found only on Rebun Island, adding the suffix-ia , which is often added to the names of countries and places. The ship features two colors: a deep indigo colorwhich is Heart Land Ferry's corporate color, and crimson, which れrepresents the glowing morning and evening skies at the northernmost island of Hokkaido.
