「010:Origin #52- Shigaraki ware」

It is a work that combines "Origin" and "Shigaraki ware". Shigaraki ware is a type of stoneware pottery made in Shigaraki area, Shiga. A figure representing a raccoon dog is popular.
When I visited Shigaraki once, I was shocked and inspired. The characteristic appearance is filled with thoughts such as warding off evil and a way of life.

「Origin」と「信楽焼」が合体した作品です。信楽焼きは滋賀県の信楽の焼き物です。狸の姿をしたのが人気です。一回信楽に行った時に衝撃を受けて、そこからインスパイアされました。特徴的な外観は、悪を追い払うことや人生を表すような考えが詰め込まれています。

Some of my favorite points

This pottery has eight auspicious points.  Here are some of them.  All are my favorite points.

 The first is "passbook" and "sake bottle".  "passbook" means credit first.  In the end, you live with people other than yourself, so you have to value your trust.  "Tokkuri" means to acquire "human virtue".  "Virtue" refers to the character and intellect, the innate ability and nature of the person.  It's a rough explanation, but having that kind of humanity means enriching your life.  These two are important and one of my favorites.

 The second is a big stomach.  A big stomach means to have "calmness and boldness".  Life is a series of decisions.  Under such circumstances, it is sometimes important to be bold and calm.  I myself drew this and relearned these.  I like it.

 The third is the big eyes.  The big eye is to look around and be attentive and able to make the right decisions.  Attentiveness and awareness of others are important.  I think that compassion will be born from that.  This is also my favorite.
 In addition to these, there are many auspicious points such as good luck, smiles, hats, and thick tails.  It's also in my grandparents' house, and it's a very auspicious pottery that you can see once a year when you go home far away.

この焼き物には8つの縁起の良い点があります。そのうちの幾つかを紹介します。どれもお気に入りのポイントです。

1つ目は、「通い帳」と「徳利」です。「通い帳」は信用第一を意味しています。生きているなかで、結局、自分以外の人と関わって生きていく訳ですから、信用は大切にしないといけません。「徳利」は「人徳」を身につけようという意味があります。「徳」というのは、品性や知性、その人の生まれ持った能力や天性のことをさします。大まかな説明にはなりますが、そういった人徳を持っておくことは、人生を豊かにするよという意味があります。この２つは大切なことで、お気に入りの１つです。
２つ目は、大きなお腹です。大きなお腹には、「冷静さと大胆さ」を持ち合わせようという意味があります。人生は決断の連続です。そういったなかで、時には大胆にそして冷静にいることは大切なことです。私自身もこれを描きながら、これらを再び学び直しました。お気に入りです。
３つ目は、大きな目です。大きな目には、周囲を見渡して、気を配り正しい判断ができるようにという意味があります。気配り、他人への意識というのは大切なものです。そこから、思いやりなどは生まれると考えるからです。これもまた、お気に入りです。
これらの他にも、金運、笑顔、笠、太い尻尾などの縁起の良い点が多くあります。私の祖父母の家にもあり、年に一回遠い帰省の際に、見ることができるとても縁起の良い焼き物です。
