Sugawara Satsuki EX Taishu July 2022 Issue Interview

• This was your first solo gravure. Do you have any impressions?
  It was my first time seeing the ocean outside Chiba, so I was very excited. The beaches in Kanagawa are beautiful. Also, I realized that my running style was lame. When I checked the photos, the way I swung my arms was even weirder than I imagined (lol).

• What if there was a physical fitness test on "Nogizaka Koujichuu"?
  I would be in a pinch.

• You liked Nogizaka right?
  I first heard about Nogizaka when 3ki joined the group and was shocked at how cute they were. I especially loved Ozono Momoko-san. Her face was my absolute favorite and her Kagoshima dialect was so cute. I was fascinated by her dialect, but it was impossible for me to speak in the same way.

• You have passed Ozono-san, who has graduated last August.
  To me, Ozono Momoko-san will always be an unreachable presence, and I'm fine with that.

• Ozono-san's "never changed" image, in a good way, was appealing to me.
  I want to be the same way. Today, toom the staff told me, "don't change" (lol).

• Why did you audition for 5ki?
  I applied at the last minute, thinking that it would be a good life experience even if I failed. I didn't have any special skills to show, so I was surprised that I made it to the final screening. I like cute girls, so in the final screening, I looked at everyone's faces and thought, "I would have no regrets if I failed" (lol).

• Did you want to be friends with cute girls?
  No. If the girl I exchanged contact information with turned out to be an idol, I feel that I will trouble others, so I just stayed by myself.

• What are your thoughts on being one of the 11 people in 5ki?
  They are all so versatile that I thought, "I have nothing to offer, what should I do," but then I changed my mind and said, "Now that I'm in Nogizaka, I'm going to do my best". Unlike usual friendship, we are genmates, which is a strange relationship, but the idea that they are all important to me is growing day by day.

• While many of the members were being serious at the first omitatekai, I sensed humanness in Sugawara-san, who was being restless.
  I had a strange feeling that the audience was watching me so I wandered around. Also right before the performance, I cried, "I can't take it anymore!" and everyone saw my tears, so I was also upset by that.

• You were the one who was most surprised by your success with free throws.
  When I was in trouble because I didn't have any special skills, one of the staff said to me, "Why don't you play basketball?" I had only been on the basketball team for three months, but I was able to make it (lol),

• (the span time) It's so short (lol).
  The staff said, "I think you can make it interesting if it misses," so I made the free throw, but didn't think it would go in.

• The hit prayer for "Nogizaka Koujichuu" was also interesting.
  It was the first time I saw myself riding a bicycle in the studio, and it looked really lame (lol). I feel like I'm a person who can't do many things at the same time. I had to talk while pedaling my bike and be aware of the camera, so I forgot about my gears.

• In addition, you got teased by obtaining a series of "shokichi"
  I drew daikichi this year, and I also had daikichi when I went to a shrine privately after the recording! No one believes me when I tell this story (lol). But I was happy to be teased by Bananaman-san, and I think it's a good way for people to remember me.

• You look like real sisters with Tamura-san.
  I love Mayu-san because she is so kind. When I'm with her, I naturally smile. The lockscreen of my phone is a pic of me and Mayu-san's back taken by the manager when we did the hit campaign.

• At the second omitatekai, you sang "Sing Out!" as the center.
  Right before the performance, the choreo flew, and if I thought about in in my head, I wouldn't be able to do anything, so I had to move my body to the song that was playing. I watched Asuka-san's video for her solo dance and tried to copy her "suppleness" but I couldn't do it, so I danced in my own way.

• I could feel your enthusiasm for your solo dance.
  Thank you very much.

• You performed with seniors for the first time at a birthday live concert at Nissan Stadium.
  The seniors sang about 80 songs in two days, and I couldn't understand how they could get the choreo and positions in their heads. I was overwhelmed by the aura of the surprise appearance of the OGs and thought, "Legend!". I personally loved the performance of Ito Marika-san, so I got goosebumps all the way from her appearance and became a fan again, I want to be able to perform like that.

• I heard that you said to Takayama Kazumi-san "I will take over the penlight colors"
  I asked the manager to take me to the dressing room. Takayama-san is a really kind person. We had a lot of fun talking about common topics in Chiba, and she told me about the penlight, saying, "The pink and light blue scenery is beautiful," I want to see that scenery too.

• Did you see Takayama-san's Instagram post saying "I will always support you"?
  I was surprised when my mother sent it to me. I'm happy.

• On the second day of Nissan Stadium, Sugawara-san gave a speech on behalf of 5ki. You wanted to change your timid self?
  I had many regrets for not taking action in the past, and the 5ki audition was the first time I had the courage to take the plunge. I realized that if I took the first step, the world would expand.

• In your speech, you said "Nogizaka is a place where dreams come true," do you have a dream that you want to achieve now?
  I don't have a dream of becoming a model or an actress yet. I have always loved idols, so I'm happy to be an idol now. I have a dream of dancing to the calls of my fans.
