南天 a nandina

お正月も近いので、縁起物の話でも。
今日は南天です。
南天には「難を転じる」に通じるので、日本では古くから縁起の良い木とされてきました。
また、南天の葉には、殺菌効果もあるようで、それで赤飯に添えたりしていたそうです。

The nandina turns "bad luck" into "good luck". 
Since ancient times in Japan, we have viewed the wood as auspicious.
In addition, the leaves of the nandina have anti-bacterial effect, so it put on a festive red rice.
