QUARANTINE DAYS
About one week ago, I picked up my daughter from nursery school because she had a high fever. I took her to her doctor and she took the PCR test. The results came back and her results were positive in the next day. So, our whole month got messed up because my whole family had to quorantine.
She only needed to quarantine for 10 days. However, my whole family, except for her, had to quarantine for 5 more days although we didn't have a high fever or other symptoms because we're close contact persons.
However, I had to go to work last weekend because the agency I'm working for couldn't find a replacement. So I had to use a loophole. If you are a close contact person, as long as it has been 3 or 4 days since the moment of contact, and you are symptomless and top of that your antigen tests on the 3rd and 4th day are negative, you are clear.
The moment she took the PCR test, we quarantined her. But my husband had to taken care of her because we couldn’t leave her alone because she is only three years old.
I was running out of time, so I was getting very desperate. I looked everywhere for the officially-approved test kit but I couldn't find it anywhere because every drug store with a pharmacist was closed because it was a national holiday!
The next day, I found a pharmacy near my station that sold antigen tests. I had to buy 6 sets for myself and the rest of my family but I could only get hold of 4 sets. After that, I could get hold of more 2 sets in a pharmacy little far away. Each kit was from 1,600 to 3,000 yen, so in total, it was over 10,000 yen.
My husband can't do remote work for all his work so he also had to go to his office as soon as possible. After he used the test kits some days later, I had to take care of my son instead of my husband because my son still had to quorantining.
Luckily, my daughter's symptoms were mild. But my kids were feeling very stressed because they couldn’t go out. And, she asked me every day "Where are we going?". I had to answer every time "We are not going anywhere, I’m so sorry." Instead of going out, I filled up their old baby bath and they enjoyed playing "fishing" for toys and playing with water in front of our apartment. And also we enjoyed playing with sparklers. I was glad because my kids were very excited!
Actually I feel sorry for one more family member. It was my husband's birthday a couple of days ago. So, I got him a cake from Ubereats and a present from Amazon. And then, I celebrated his birthday with my family at home as my daughter sang for him in the background.
