(1) 子供のころに、本を読んで感動したり、わくわくしたりした思い出は、一生消えることのないほど強烈なものである。子供は未知の世界に対して新鮮な好奇心を持ち、想像力が豊かであるため、本の世界のなかで生きることができるのだ。成長してさまざまな試練に出会ったときに、そのような経験が思わぬ力を発揮する場合がある。

(2) コンクリートの建物に囲まれ、機能第一主義の無機質な都会で生活していると、鳥や虫の鳴き声に耳をすませたり、名も知らぬような草木に目をやったりしながら、季節の微妙な移り変わりを実感するようなことがめっきり少なくなってきたように思う。もっと心に余裕を持ち、一回きりのかけがえのない人生をうるおいのあるものにしたいと考えて、田舎に移住することを決断する人が近年増えてきているのも無理からぬことである。

Children can live in the world of books because they have a fresh curiosity about the unknown and a rich imagination. When they grow up and encounter various challenges, such experiences can be an unexpected source of strength.

(2) Surrounded by concrete buildings and living in an inorganic, function-first city, it seems that we rarely listen to the chirping of birds and insects, or look at plants and trees that we don't even know the names of, and feel the subtle changes of the seasons. It is no wonder that more and more people are deciding to move to the countryside in recent years, hoping to have more peace of mind and make their once irreplaceable life more rich.

(1) 教育とは何かと考えるときに、私が決まって思い出すのが小学校の恩師の顔である。先生は、私たち生徒に、物事に真剣に取り組むことを教えてくださった。その教えは、これまでの私の人生の指針となっている。今から考えると、先生の教えが私の心に響いたのは、先生の尊敬できる誠実な人柄によるところが大きかったように思う。教育において考慮すべきことは、教える内容だけではなく、教える側の人間性でもあるのだ。

(2) 最近久しぶりに旅行して実感したのですが、田舎の夜空には星が驚くほどたくさん見えます。科学的に考えれば、汚染がなく空気がきれいだからでしょうが、風景はそれを見る者の心を映すとよく言われます。雑事に追われて忙しいだけの生活からしばしの逃避行を敢行したあの時の私は、もしかしたら、めずらしく無邪気な子供のように心が澄んでいたのかもしれません。

(1) When I think about what education is, I always remember the face of my elementary school teacher. He taught us, the students, to take things seriously. His teachings have become the guideline for my life so far. In hindsight, I think it was his respectful and sincere personality that made his teachings resonate in my heart. In education, it is not only the content of what is taught, but also the humanity of the teacher that should be taken into consideration.

I recently traveled to the countryside for the first time in a long time, and I realized that there are an amazing number of stars in the night sky in the countryside. Scientifically speaking, it is probably because the air is clean and free of pollution, but it is often said that the scenery reflects the heart of the person who sees it. Perhaps my mind was as clear as an innocent child's when I dared to escape from my busy life of chores for a while.
