JUST ANOTHER ORDINALLY, BUT HAPPY DAY

I woke up at around 3:00 am, but I was able to fall back asleep. I got up before 7:00 am. My husband got up before I did and made coffee and Japanese tea for us, as usual. We took a walk for an hour. Today, I was going to give four lessons. We sometimes walk in the early morning when I have many lessons that day.

We got home and I uploaded today's blog. Today's topic was a new brochure about my jobs. I asked for help from a designer. She is really good at turning my fuzzy ideas into logical visuals.

My husband made breakfast and washed the dishes. After that he watched YouTube and I enjoyed working on Canva. I also thought a little about my cost performance. If I have 10 more lessons or card sessions a month, I'll be able to step up to the next stage...hmm.

I gave the first lesson of the day to a new student from 10 to 11. I was happy to hear that she was happy to have found me.

After that lesson, I prepared simmered root veg in sweet soy sauce that I used several days ago for dinner. I asked my husband on the sofa what he wanted to eat for lunch and he answered, my special udon noodles. I cooked udon soup with my special recipe; I mean, using fixed amounts and kinds of seasonings, my special recipe!

I always ask him to sip and taste in the middle. That's a tip for happiness for both of us. He lost his stomach due to cancer 10 years ago, so eating is a kind of rehabilitation for him. If he doesn't like the dish, he can't eat it and it can make him unhealthy. Also, if he doesn't eat my dish, I feel guilty and down. So I always ask him to taste it. It may be a kind of ritual. He asked me to add a little soy sauce as usual, and I replied OK and did so. We ate udon together and said to each other, "Yummy" and "Thank you."

I washed the dishes just after our lunch, but I left our udon bowls on the table. I said, "Oops!" and he said, "Don't worry, it happens." I wondered if there are any other English set phrases or not so I googled and found, "This is so me!" to say to myself and "This is so you!" for my husband to say to me. We'll use them again and again from now on.

I took a 30-minute nap before the afternoon lessons, and I had a lesson with 2 kids. We have lessons from 2:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. every Monday. Today, a boy wasn’t feeling good and didn't show his face at all, so we slowly communicated in a chat. It can happen.

I went shopping at a drugstore. My husband fell and sprained his left wrist when we were taking a morning walk two weeks ago and he is still having trouble with it, so I needed to buy more compresses. He hates to go to the hospital...hmmm.

I started the third lesson at 4:30. That student is a great hula teacher and we're reading a book about Hawaiian culture. She loves reading English books with me and recently changed her plan from one hour to one and a half hours. At the beginning of our lesson today, I thanked her for writing an article about me and our lessons on her blog because three people came to try my lesson and two of them have already started studying with me. She was very surprised and happy to know that her blog influenced readers a lot.

During that lesson, my husband took a bath and grilled fish. After that lesson, I took a bath and fixed dinner. We were both happy with the leftovers! What a happy economical couple we are! My husband and I often eat, drink, and talk a lot at the table. When I told him that I tried a calculated guess in the morning, he said to me, "Work at your own pace, not for a living, but to enjoy it." I really thank him and his pension!

I washed the dishes and opened my PC, and I found that the fourth lesson for today was canceled because he had a headache. In the end, three lessons a day may be the maximum for me to be able to handle joyfully.

Well, I've just gotten extra free time! Hooray! I can finish writing this diary and send it to you. After that, I'm going to draw many cards with many types of brush pens to sell at an event I'm taking part in this coming Sunday. If I have more time after that, I will edit my radio program for next Wednesday and clean my room at least a little bit...

In fact, it was just another ordinary day, but a happy one. I'm singing to myself. Guess what song it is? :-)
