The interpretation of this phrase is difficult. 
Six months to live might be an exaggeration, but there is no doubt that muscular dystrophy means early mortality. 
Since childhood, I have been saying "I was dying" several times a day; however, I survived without dying as if a cheater and my ugly side got revealed in the process. 
I was never diagnosed to be a pervert, but I have gotten used to people looking at me like I am a sort of a monster.
