Hello everyone, my name is Saerom Kim, a first-year student in the Interdisciplinary Engineering Program at the University of Tsukuba. This 「TSUKUBA LIVE!」 is my first time being part of the management team, also known as TL creators. In this Note, I will discuss 「TSUKUBA LIVE!」from an international student’s perspective.

There are thousands of international students enrolled at the University of Tsukuba. Unfortunately, the language barrier between international and Japanese students brings difficult to befriend; however, playing sports allows us to overcome the language barrier. The sport emphasizes everyone getting together no matter where you came from. Therefore, by involving [TSUKUBA LIVE!], I aspire to globalize this event further as more international students can be part of this huge event!

I am now working as a Necessary Teams Manager(Volunteer workers on gameday). Thankfully, a large number of people have applied for volunteer work. My main role would be being a translator and managing all the necessary members. Hopefully, through [TSUKUBA LIVE!], international students and Japanese students perceive the enjoyment of working together!

Although the University of Tsukuba is known for research and education, it's also known for sports. There are numerous students enrolled in the University of Tsukuba as a athletes and some of the players have participated in the World Championship or even been part of Japan's national team. Nevertheless, it's been hard to cheer our players due to the pandemic restrictions. A large number of people including myself wanted an environment that allowed us to cheer our players with all the wild energy we got. From the player's perspective, it's completely different to have fans cheering for you. For instance, I used to play for the basketball team at the home game back in high school. Being cheered by all of my friends and teachers allowed me to play much better and more importantly, it brought me joy and enthusiasm. Speaking of home games, I love watching US college basketball games. In the US college home game, all of the students cheer and support their players with wild enthusiasm, which is incomparable with Japanese college basketball games. Thus, I want to bring that culture to the University of Tsukuba and even all around Japan by cooperating with other TL creators!

Lastly, I would like to show respect and love to all other TL creators. [TSUKUBA LIVE!] has been held several times already. It brought excitement and now it's one of the biggest events at the University of Tsukuba. This is all thanks to all the hard work of TL creators! I will try my best to help other creators and build this huge event! Please purchase a ticket and join our [TSUKUBA LIVE!]!
