Top 10 things to do in Pescara

Here are the best things to do in Pescara.

1. La Cucineria

Sitting in a seafood-filled city, Cucineria relies heavily on the terrain's fat (soil) with chitarrina (Abruzzo's spaghetti) with mountain herbs and dried tomatoes, favorite Roman cacio e Pepe, and the whole section of the focaccia-specific menu made with local flour has been left for 72 hours.

2. La Bottega del 40

A small abode is located under a stone archway in the tiny old town of Pescara, where primi prices rarely break double digits. This is a good place for a light economical dinner served Veloce (fast) with a basket of bread and a glass of the house plonk. There aren’t many tables, but the turnover is fast.

3. Museo Casa Natale Gabriele D'Annunzio

The birthplace of the controversial small but well-managed Nazi poet Gabriele D'Annunzio, with his nine galleries of furniture, documents, images and death masks housed in a glossy glass box. A short film (in Italian) is given as an introduction.

4. Ittico

This sleek 21st-century restaurant, amidst a cluster of more traditional trattorias.

5. Museo delle Genti d'Abruzzo

A huge (if slightly dated) display of Abruzzo culture jams into 13 connecting rooms, including the Bronze Age to the Risorgimento and more. The labeling is mainly in Italian with some sporadic English and the presentation is, at times, a little cluttered.

But there is a lot of history supported by the exhibits of a more folk bend (including many costumes). The most illuminated is the little-told story of the Abruzzo Islamic warriors of the Italic Shepherd, who named the peninsula.
