"What is radio to you? ”

Have you listened to the radio lately? Then we asked you, "What is radio to you? ”How would you answer?
I love listening to the radio. I like the silly and funny parts, and I have been listening to them since elementary school.
But in my third year of junior high school, I stopped going to school and was withdrawn for a while due to a combination of factors. I also went to counseling. To be honest, I wanted to die.
Late at night, alone and quiet in my room, I felt like I was going crazy. I wanted to hear someone's voice, so I turned on the radio.
It was the voice of a female idol named Ms. Shinuchi. Idols typically have a reputation for being flashy and exuberant, but Ms. Shinuchi defied that stereotype.
She shared a story from over a decade ago when she was in high school. A drop of udon noodle broth had landed on her cell phone, causing it to malfunction.
It was the first time I had heard such a relatable story from an idol, and I was genuinely amused.
The Submitted Emails section has begun. The e-mails read by Ms. Shinuchi were funny and silly.
I suddenly laughed for the first time in more than ten days.
A late-night radio corner email and Ms. Shinuchi saved a dying ninth grader. Through the radio waves.
I suddenly laughed and was saved.
I was about to die but wanted to listen to Ms. Shinuchi's radio program, so I thought I would try to live a little longer. I started to think, Let's try a little harder.
And when I found something to look forward to, I gradually put off dying.
And here I stand today, giving a speech.
There are two things I want to convey through the radio.
The first is. I believe that radio is not only a social infrastructure in times of disaster, but also an infrastructure of the mind.
I have experienced that people like me who were about to commit suicide were accidentally saved by radio.
If people who are having a hard time now have the opportunity to listen to the radio, they might feel a little better after listening to it.
Second, I want to tell you something.
The end of the long school vacation is also a time when children are likely to suffer, with an increase in child suicides.
So can radio be a safety net for such people?
Radio is a medium that ventilates the mind.
It would be nice to have a place where we could put down our smartphones, which need to be connected to someone else, and escape from reality.
Couldn't it also serve as a kind of shelter? I think so.
Finally, in her address to listeners on the program's final episode, Ms.Shinuchi said, "For me, radio is a lifeline."
These words apply to me as well.
It was your radio that connected me to the world I live in now.
Once again, radio is a lifeline for me.
Thank you for listening.
