Tips for checking your design at work no.03

This blog is written for people who do "design checking and judging" for work. I'm trying not to be too formal in my writing, so please forgive me for any typos or omissions.
In the previous article, I wrote about "research" in detail. This time, I'm going to write about "having someone else do the research for you"!

PART: Ask them to do research.

Researching on your own is easy, do it yourself and you're done w. However, getting team members and decision makers to do the research becomes more challenging. How do you get your team members to do the research to decide on a design that is ambiguous and uncertain? That's what I'd like to focus on this time!

Have a team member do the research.

"Rather than doing homework like, "We need to do research to decide on a design, so please go do it! Rather than using homework, I think it is better and less expensive to gather the team members and conduct a workshop. In the case of homework, you can spend infinite time on it, and some people may spend hours on it. I think it is important to assume that this is a task that will continue to be done in the future, and to use a method that is not tedious, and that is fun. is important.

Workshops

Simple things are important. Try to quit what you find troublesome. However, there is one rule: "Everyone's research must be in one place. "You don't need to know who wrote it, by the way. This is a measure to make a good design, so it is sometimes necessary to know who wrote it, but some people don't like to write their own name, so the name is not that important.

Tool

For tools, always use a memo tool. It can be anything from a whiteboard to handwritten notes. The most important thing is to talk about design research as a team, so don't go overboard trying to find a facilitator and get the right answers. I know I'm being picky, but I think you'll find a format over the course of many design research meetings, so take it easy.

Ask decision makers to do research.

This is clearly not possible. I think it is possible for a small number of startups to have people participate in workshops as team members. However, most decision makers are busy and have a lot of meetings, and they tend to want to eliminate unnecessary meetings and communication. (That was my experience.) So, I have a suggestion: how about this?

1)Team members share their research with decision-makers.
2)Ask them to check the areas of concern in the research.

This is a great way to get busy decision makers to look over the research and take action. I hope it will also increase the resolution of interest in the finished design (this is important, indifference is hard for a designer).

Summary

3) Share notes with decision-makers
