Situation in Ukraine
It has been 742 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
general things.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
Russian losses are
1,250 soldiers
21 tanks
40 armored combat vehicles
50 cannons
1 multiple rocket launcher
1 air defense system
58 drones
1 cruise missile
1 ship
68 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 72 ground battles in a single day.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 1.5 compared to the losses on the Ukrainian side.
The losses on the Russian side are mostly tanks,
infantry fighting vehicles,
the Desert Cross buggy we reported on in yesterday's video,
and civilian trucks,
while on the Ukrainian side pickups and SUVs stand out.
Here is a short news report on the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch where necessary.
First things first.
As we reported at the beginning of yesterday's video,
the waterborne drone unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian military,
known as Group 13,
sank the Russian patrol boat Serhiy Kotov in the Kerch Strait in Crimea.
The Serhiy Kotov is a state-of-the-art Puyan patrol boat of the Russian Black Sea Fleet,
commissioned in 2022,
with stealth capabilities and the ability to conduct ground,
surface,
anti-submarine and cruise missile attacks.
According to radio transmissions,
the first attack took place at around 0:50 a.m.
The Ukrainians used five Magura V5s,
and there were explosions on the stern,
starboard,
and port sides,
and the video shows the patrol boat in black and white,
with a rising column of water nearby and the exterior blown away to reveal the hull's interior.
The patrol boat was carrying a helicopter,
but there appears to have been no counterattack from the ship,
and the helicopter was destroyed along with it.
The crew was apparently attacked suddenly,
and radio transmissions indicate that seven crew members were killed,
six were wounded,
and 52 were evacuated.
The Black Sea Fleet has now lost a third of its ships.
Second.
The U.S.
Department of Defense has arrested a retired lieutenant colonel for passing classified information about the war in Ukraine to someone he met on a dating website.
David Slater,
63,
who served in the U.S.
Strategic Command,
was also supposedly trained to handle classified information,
but met someone posing as a woman living in Ukraine on a dating app and regularly passed on classified information as requested.
CBS USA asked,
"Honey,
what's on the screen in the special room?
Very interesting." or "Dave,
I'm glad you got the information first.
Let me know immediately.
You are my secret agent.
Love," or,
"My dear Dave,
thank you for the valuable information.
It's great to have two U.S.
officials traveling to Kyiv," and other messages,
according to the report.
Third.
Regarding the hacking of the document management system of the Russian Defense Ministry and the leak of a large number of documents,
including orders,
which we reported yesterday,
the GUR reported: "The Russian Defense Ministry of the aggressor state has still not been able to cope with this situation,
its website is down,
its document resolution system and internal telephones are inoperable.
The website is down,
the document approval system and internal telephones are out of order.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will tell you where the war situation is changing.
You can follow the changes in the war situation in detail on the large full-screen display.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
This section reports on the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line from Halkiu and Kupyansk,
and from the Siversk area to the Bakhmut area.
In this area the Russians attacked 7 times near Shinkivka and Tabayivka,
4 times from Terny to Sibersk,
and 6 times in the direction of Bakhmut.
Kupyansk area
In Kislyivka,
Kotlyarivka and Tabayivka,
the scope of the disputed area was revised,
as video with location data showed that Ukrainian forces were shelling the mapped area south-east of Kotlyarivka,
which turned out to be the front line.
Svatove-Kreminna line.
In this sector,
the Russians attacked Terny and Bilohorivka,
but the Russian attack was repulsed by the Ukrainian army,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
Bakhmut Sector
1.
Ivanivske,
the Russians appear to have targeted the T0504 line,
which is a supply line for the Ukrainian army.
The Russians first shelled and bombed Chashivyar and the Canai outpost,
then attacked Ukrainian positions northwest of Ivanivske with drones and multiple rocket launchers.
The Ukrainian forces also defended their positions in the city center against attacks on the T0504 supply line,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
Second.
In Klishchiivka,
the Russians fired 15-20 rockets at Ukrainian positions on the west side of the pond in response to the Ukrainian army's destruction of a Russian convoy the day before.
The battle map remained unchanged here.
Southeast Donetsk region.
The weather in Avdiivka is generally cloudy.
The minimum temperature is 0 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 7 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is cloudy.
Below is an update on the situation in Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka area
Russian troops have carried out 28 attacks in this area.
According to Russian military bloggers,
the Russians have carried out over 100 air strikes on Ukrainian positions in this sector,
and the Russians may have launched another glide-bomb attack.
Conversely,
the Ukrainian military has used artillery fire,
including numerous drones and cluster munitions,
to reduce Russian forces before they reach the front lines.
Near Avdiivka,
as far as can be ascertained,
they have damaged two desert cross-buggies,
a Lada SUV,
and a tank.
French-supplied ASSM hammer-guided bombs were also used against Avdiivka.
1.
The Russian attack was repulsed by Ukrainian troops with drones,
artillery fire and cluster bombs.
What we are showing you is the situation at the location indicated on the map.
It appears that the Russians are making their way to Berdych on foot,
and before they reach Berdych,
they are wiped out by Ukrainian cluster artillery.
The map of the battle remains unchanged.
2.
At Orlianka,
too,
the Ukrainian forces have released numerous drones and fired cluster shells in response to the Russian attack,
reducing their strength,
and when they reach Orlianka,
they are repulsed by the Ukrainian forces waiting for them.
However,
the Russians attacked to the south of the town,
which was in the shadow of the Ukrainian troops,
and according to the positional video,
they advanced by one field as shown on the map.
The image shown is from the Ukrainian side and shows the Desert Cross buggy at the location shown on the map.
We have updated the battle map to show this location as occupied by Russian forces from the disputed area.
3.
Meanwhile,
at Tonenke,
the battle map remains unchanged as both sides continue to fire artillery in the rear today.
Fourth.
In Pervomaiske,
where we reported yesterday that the Russians may have advanced,
several reports indicate that the Russians may have advanced slightly in the town area and through a field on the northern outskirts.
Depending on the situation in Berdych,
Orlianka,
and Tonenke,
the Ukrainian forces may be forced to retreat as the town of Pervomaiske is semi-encircled.
The battle map shows the northern side of the city from the contested area to the Russian-occupied area,
extending the contested area to near the center of the city.
The Marinka Sector
The Russians made 22 attacks in this sector.
1.
In Krasnohorivka,
north of Marinka,
the fighting has already begun,
but the civilian population seems to have remained,
and the White Angels of the Ukrainian Army have gone from house to house to evacuate the citizens.
The battle map has not changed.
2.
In Novomirovka,
there is no change in the battle map at this time,
but the main Ukrainian forces have fallen back to positions on the western side of the city,
and the urban area may have shifted to a strategy of shelling and drones to block the advance of the Russian forces.
On the other hand,
unconfirmed reports indicate that the Russians will also launch an offensive to the south of the city,
preparing for a direct assault by semi-encircling the city from the east and south.
South,
Zaporizhia Province.
In this area,
the Russians launched an attack on Robotyne,
but were repulsed by the Ukrainian forces,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
Rear Area
On the outskirts of Nikanriva,
40 kilometers northwest of the Avdiivka front line,
the Ukrainian HIMARS were attacked and destroyed by Russian short-range ballistic missiles.
39 HIMARS have been provided to the Ukrainian armed forces,
but this is the first time they have been completely destroyed.
BBBB
South,
Kherson province.
In this sector,
the Russians attacked Krinky twice,
but the attacks were unsuccessful and did not change the battle map.
Others
Polinkov,
a Russian military blogger close to Russian security officials,
changed his mind and criticized President Putin by posting a message about the Special Military Operations (SVO).
In the message,
he wrote: "SVO has no goal,
only a road without a destination.
It is completely unclear when it will end.
The West does not want Russia to win,
and as long as Russia continues with the SVO,
Russia will be destroyed.
It is as if Putin and Biden have agreed to let Russia fall".
The man interviewed had a stern look on his face as he expressed his sense of crisis about the future of Russia's offensive operations without a goal in mind.
Polinkov,
a former avid military blogger who was deeply moved by the Russian invasion of Kyiv and participated in the fighting last year,
had an "epiphany" this year and has since deserted the Russian military and returned to Russia.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
