Situation in Ukraine
It has been 723 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
general things.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
Russian losses are
1,210 soldiers
23 tanks
39 armored combat vehicles
21 artillery pieces
4 drones
13 cruise missiles
29 other vehicles.
Russian losses exceeded 1,200,
bringing the cumulative total to over 400,000.
Across the entire front,
83 ground battles were reported in a single day.
More than half of the losses were in the direction of Avdiivka.
Russian losses are close to 1,000,
and as we reported yesterday,
the high loss of equipment suggests that new ammunition may be arriving for the Ukrainian army.
And the ratio of the number of equipment losses of the Ukrainian army to the Russian army,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 2.5,
which is 2.5 times the number of losses on the Russian side compared to the Ukrainian side.
The Russian losses are mostly infantry fighting vehicles,
artillery and military trucks,
and they have sent a large number of soldiers to the front lines.
On the Ukrainian side,
infantry fighting vehicles,
armored fighting vehicles and SUVs stand out.
Here is a short news report on the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to see where you need to go.
1.
White House Coordinator Kirby addressed the situation in Avdiivka in his regular press briefing and said,
"The situation is critical and there is a possibility of Russian occupation.
The reason for this is the lack of ammunition in the Ukrainian army," he noted,
"The House of Representatives should expedite the vote so that it can be sent immediately.
The cost of congressional inaction is heavy on the shoulders of Ukrainian soldiers."
This is the first time the White House has mentioned the fall of Avdiivka.
Second.
Meanwhile,
Boudanov,
head of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense,
said at a press conference after the Ramstein meeting that "the situation with artillery shells and missiles will improve."
The director said,
"At the conference it was announced which countries can provide how much and for what period this month.
The Secretary explained that the current shortage of artillery ammunition is expected to improve in the near future.
Third.
According to The Hill,
the U.S.
House of Representatives is considering two ways to pass a security bill that includes aid to Ukraine.
One would be to pass another bill and specify that the current bill be included in it,
and the other would be to remove the Speaker from office,
as described in an earlier video.
We have told you that a supermajority of 218 signatures is needed to do this,
and we have now collected up to 213 signatures.
However,
perhaps sensing the movement,
Speaker Johnson abruptly declared a recess of Congress,
and Congress is now in recess until February 28th.
A White House official said he was "kidding himself" when he mentioned that the measure,
if voted on,
was expected to pass on a bipartisan basis.
Fourth.
It was revealed that Ukraine received GLSDB guided bombs from the USA and immediately put them into use.
As reported in an earlier video,
this is a GBU39 aircraft bomb that is combined with the rocket portion of an M26 unguided rocket missile to transform it into a ground-launched precision-guided missile with a maximum range of 150 km.
Characterized by low cost,
high power,
long range and accuracy,
the missile will be able to attack rear ammunition depots that were previously out of reach of HIMARS.
Analysis of the Russian video footage identified the GLSDB from its fragments,
confirming that this was the world's first GLSDB used in actual warfare.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will tell you where the war situation has changed.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
We will report on the war situation from Halkiu and Kupyansk to the Svatove-Kreminna line,
and from the Siversk area to the Bakhmut area.
In this area the Russians attacked once in Terny and four times in Bakhmut.
Kupyansk area
In Shinkivka,
according to the video with location information,
Ukrainian troops attacked Russian troops at the location on the battle map,
and infantry fighting vehicles are firing at each other,
which confirms that this location is under the control of Ukrainian troops.
The image is from the 1st Battalion of the 30th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army,
where Ukrainian BMP infantry fighting vehicles are located on the battle map,
looking across the field at Russian troops.
This location had been marked as disputed territory,
but since this confirms that most of Sinkivka is under Ukrainian control,
the battle map has been updated to show the area as Ukrainian-controlled instead of disputed.
Bakhmut area
Ukrainian military spokesman Evrash reported that Russian troops are massing in Bohdanivka and Bakhmut in preparation for an attack on Chashivyar.
Meanwhile,
on O0506,
the Russian 98th Airborne troops attacked in a convoy,
but Ukrainian troops returned fire and the attack failed,
with the Russians losing two BTR armored fighting vehicles and three BMD infantry fighting vehicles.
What we are showing you is the 42nd mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army observing from a drone.
We reported that this location was occupied by Russian troops in a video on the 10th of this month,
and we have updated the disputed area around the cemetery again.
South-east Donetsk region.
The weather in Avdiivka is cloudy.
The minimum temperature is -4 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 4 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is cloudy and sometimes sunny.
Below is an update on the situation in the areas of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka
Russian troops carried out 40 attacks in this area.
The commander of the Ukrainian forces,
General Tarnavsky,
stated on his social networking site that "Avdiivka is in a difficult but controlled situation" and that "reinforcements are being made and additional ammunition has been allocated.
He also reported that "new fortifications and positions are being prepared in case of a withdrawal" and that all scenarios are being considered.
A Russian POW also commented on the attack on residential areas south of Avdiivka: "We reached the rear of the Ukrainian army through water pipes,
but some of us could not continue because of the lack of oxygen on the way and the humidity,
with waist-deep water.
We were in the sewers for 10 hours and came to the surface,
but because we were the last to go,
we were attacked by Ukrainian heavy machine guns and our unit was wiped out and surrendered," he recounted.
Biletsky,
commander of the 3rd Assault Brigade,
deployed in Avdiivka,
added: "We performed an unprecedented heroic action,
fighting in a 360-degree direction against seven brigades sent out by the enemy.
Two of the brigades were seriously damaged," he said,
describing the fierce ground fighting.
1.
In the southern part of the coke plant,
the largest focal point,
the Russian army sent inexperienced assault troops to advance,
according to video footage of positions combined with multiple intelligence reports.
The Russians dug trenches and established a stronghold in the border forest about 1.5 kilometers from Lastochkine,
beyond a section of the industrial road that serves as a supply route.
The Russians also asserted their occupation by planting a flag on the northwest side of the intersection of route O0542 and the industrial road,
as shown on the battle map.
The Ukrainian army appears to be fighting back,
but the Russians have not been able to fully respond due to the number of troops they have sent in.
The battle map has been updated to show the area under Russian occupation from the disputed area and the area controlled by Ukrainian forces.
Second.
Russian forces have established a small siege on the eastern outskirts of Avdiivka,
from Kamianka to Kultavalka,
driving out Ukrainian forces and expanding their occupation of the area.
The Ukrainian forces seem to be retreating to the urban area,
where their headquarters are located,
in case of possible encirclement.
The battle map has been updated to show this area as contested territory.
Third.
In the Ukrainian military stronghold called Zenit,
south of the city,
which we reported in yesterday's video as a possible besieged area,
the Ukrainian troops withdrew to the city block where the headquarters is located,
according to the video with the location,
and then the Russian troops took over.
What we are showing you is from the Russian side,
where the flag of the brigade and the Russian flag are flying in the center of Zenit,
as you can see on the map.
The Russians then also moved from the south to the north towards the command center in Avdiivka and launched an offensive.
We have updated the battle map of the area from Ukrainian-controlled to Russian-occupied territory.
The area is about 5 square kilometers.
That's all for Avdiivka,
and the Ukrainian army has retreated from the outskirts,
its troops are concentrated in the headquarters,
and it continues to resist,
using the road to Severne as a supply line.
Otherwise,
on the Pervomaiske and Neveleske attack axis,
the Russian offensive was repelled by the Ukrainian forces,
and the battle map remains unchanged.
Marinka Sector
In this sector,
the Russians launched 20 attacks,
but were repulsed by the Ukrainian forces,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
Southern Zaporizhia Province
In this sector the Russians attacked several times in Novodonetske and Robotyne.
In Novodnetske,
according to the location video,
the Russians attacked and captured Ukrainian positions after launching hot-air bombs with the TOS1A.
The battle map has been updated to show that Russian troops occupied this location from the disputed territory.
The area is approximately 1 square kilometer.
Otherwise,
the battle map is unchanged.
Southern Kherson Province
The Russians made seven attacks in this sector,
but were repulsed by Ukrainian forces,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
