Situation in Ukraine
It has been 818 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
Russian losses were 1,380 soldiers
15 tanks
34 armored fighting vehicles
42 guns
1 multi-role rocket
4 air defense systems
54 drones
2 cruise missiles
78 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 101 ground battles in one day.
Russian forces on the attacker side in the land battle still continue to suffer high losses of more than 1,300 soldiers.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 1.5 compared to the number of losses on the Ukrainian side.
Losses on the Russian side are mostly tanks,
armored fighting vehicles,
and infantry fighting vehicles; conversely,
artillery is somewhat more prominent on the Ukrainian side.
Here is a brief news report on the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter function to watch where necessary.
1st.
Popular Ukrainian blogger Shrike reported that according to calculations based on official statistics,
the loss of Russian soldiers last week was the highest ever recorded at 9,660.
Russian troop losses continued to break records for the third week in a row,
suggesting a sharp increase in Russian troop losses on the offensive side as a result of the attempted infantry-centered advance in Harkiv and ChasivYar.
He also reported that the number of drones deployed in Ukraine also reached 300,
also a record for the third consecutive week,
and a graph published at the same time suggests some relationship between the number of drones deployed and Russian soldier losses.
Second.
periodic report from the British MoD noted that Russia is experiencing serious problems in some sectors due to labor shortages.
He noted that as of last year,
Russia had a shortage of 4.8 million workers,
particularly in the transportation and logistics industry,
with a 25% vacancy in truck drivers,
a hole that cannot be filled.
As viewers can see,
the reason for this is the de facto mobilization and drafting due to the war in Ukraine,
as well as the terrorist attacks in Moscow by ISIS in March of this year,
which have restricted the influx of immigrants.
As a result,
Russia is considering a bill to move workers to areas where there is a shortage of workers.
In this regard,
Defense Minister Shaps said,
"As Russia knows,
President Putin's economic mobilization is unsustainable.
We can make Russia's war effort impossible by continuing our support for Ukraine for six years," commented Shaps,
prompting mixed reactions in online comments to the "six-year" time frame.
3rd.
NHK reported that Russia's GDP grew 5.4% in real terms in the first quarter,
indicating that huge military spending is temporarily buoying the economy.
On the other hand,
"Russian Economy Monitoring" for the first quarter of this year showed that regional governments suffered from a sharp revenue shortfall.
Revenue fell most sharply in the Tyumeni region,
by 34.4%,
followed by the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug,
by 30.3%,
the Sakha Republic,
by 33.9%,
and Murmansk Oblast,
by 27.2%.
By tax category,
personal income taxes increased 1.5-fold due to increased payments to war participants,
but overall income taxes,
including corporate income taxes,
fell 15.6%,
and property taxes fell 18%.
The Russian economy could shrink at a rate below the inflation rate.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will focus on the areas where the war situation is changing.
You can follow the changes with the date in full screen on the big screen.
Northeast,
toward Harkiv
It has been 11 days since the Russians invaded along the border in Harkiv.
The weather in Harkiv is sunny.
The minimum temperature is 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum temperature is 24 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast for today also calls for sunshine.
Russian troops have made 11 attacks in this direction.
Liptsi area
The Russians consider the success of their attack on Bovtyansk to be of the highest priority,
and are conducting attacks in Liptsi to disperse Ukrainian forces.
In this direction,
the Russians attacked from Lukyantsi with a unit of the former Wagner's "African Legion," and to the east,
in the direction of Zelene,
they bombed Ukrainian positions and launched a ground assault along the Moulom River,
but these attacks were repulsed by the Ukrainians,
and the battle map remained unchanged.
The Ukrainian army repulsed these attacks,
and there was no change in the war situation.
Bovtyansk
In the city center,
the Russians are advancing on foot with a small infantry force,
making the situation difficult for the Ukrainian forces.
Russian forces are also heavily bombing what they believe to be Ukrainian positions in Bovtyansk,
and have conducted about 10 airstrikes on an aggregate mill along the Bovtyansk River in the city center.
1st.
From Staricha to Buhruvatka,
west of Bovtyansk,
and from Buhruvatka to Ohrtseve,
multiple sources indicate that units of the 47th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the Russian 1st Tank Army have overrun a forested area to the north and are using it as a base of operations,
and the area has been moved from disputed territory to Russian occupied The battle map has been updated from the disputed area to the area occupied by the Russians.
The total area of the two locations is approximately 15 square kilometers.
The second
According to the location-based video,
the Russians bombed the bridge near the fire station shown on the map,
and then a small unit advanced along the river and attached itself to a nearby house.
What we are showing you is from the Ukrainian side and is part of the shelling of the area shown on the map.
For now,
there is no change in the battle map,
but the Russians are sending infantry along the river to occupy the houses and close in on the Ukrainian stronghold.
Other than that,
the repeated attacks by the Russians have been repulsed by the Ukrainian army,
and there has been no change in the battle map.
Northeast - Luhansk Oblast
Eastern part,
toward Bakhmut
The following is a report on the war situation in the area from Kupyansk to Bakhmut.
In this area,
the Russians attacked 12 times in Kupyansk,
no attacks were reported on the Svatove-Kreminna line,
23 times around Sivelsk,
and 14 times in ChasivYar.
Around Sibersk
Russian forces attacked Bilohorivka,
and the Russian MoD announced the capture of Bilohorivka.
Russian military bloggers and YouTube channels,
which always report Russian-leaning war stories,
ran with the title of the article,
but the reaction was mixed,
with some Russian military bloggers criticizing the MoD for not reporting the facts.
According to the battle map with location information,
the Russians attacked from the northeast and east of Bilohorivka over the past two days,
and in the northeast direction,
the Russians withdrew with losses of tanks and infantry fighting vehicles.
The map shows the location of the attack.
In the eastern direction,
a Ukrainian drone was observed observing Russian soldiers at the location shown on the map,
and it was confirmed that Russian assault soldiers have reached the first level of the mine again.
There is no change in the battle map in either case,
as Bilohorivka has periodically been attacked and advanced by the Russians,
followed by a counterattack by the Ukrainians to return to their pre-attack positions.
ChasivYar sector
Russian forces continue to attack in this sector,
but a Russian military blogger,
a former instructor with the Russian Army's Storm Z assault unit,
told us that the Russian military has a critical lack of drone operators and defense from drones,
making them vulnerable to Ukrainian military attacks.
1st.
On the Canal,
the assault operation with Russian military vehicles reported in yesterday's video failed,
and there is no change in the battle map.
2nd.
According to the positional video,
the Ukrainian army has launched a drone attack on the location indicated on the map of Ivanivske,
and the Russian army has advanced.
The one we are showing you is from the 67th Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army,
and it shows Russian soldiers relaxing in the house shown on the map.
We have updated the battle map from disputed territory to this location as Russian-occupied territory.
Third.
In Klishchiivka,
where we reported a change in the battle map yesterday,
there is no change in the battle map,
but Russian air strikes indicate that Ukrainian troops are defending the southern and northwestern penetration roads of the town.
Otherwise,
the Ukrainian forces have repulsed the Russian offensive and the battle map remains unchanged.
Southeastern Donetsk Oblast
The following is an update on the situation in the areas of Avdiivka,
Marinka,
and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka area
Marinka
The Russians attacked 25 times in the direction of Avdiivka and 10 times in the direction of Marinka.
The number of attacks by the Russians is stabilizing,
and it appears that they are attacking to the extent that they do not let the Ukrainian forces rest.
1st.
The Russians are attacking southwest of Soloviove and east of Novopokrovske,
but the Ukrainian military is quickly detecting them and sending drones toward them,
so the Russians are being repulsed before they can get to the front lines.
The image shown is from the Ukrainian Army's 47th Mechanized Brigade,
where Ukrainian troops are observing Russian troops operating in the settlement of Soloviove.
The battle map remains unchanged.
2nd.
In Netilove,
the battle map has been updated to include this location as an extension of the disputed area,
as the positional video shows Russian infantry crossing from house to house and being repulsed when they reach the location indicated on the map.
Third.
In Paraskovyivka,
west of Novomihailivka,
Ukrainian troops have launched multiple rockets at the location indicated on the map,
which confirms that Russian troops have advanced to this location,
and also as a partial Russian occupation of that area from disputed territory and Ukrainian-controlled territory,
Paraskovyivka updated the battle map as an expansion of the disputed area.
Vuhledar Area
In this sector,
the Russians attacked Stalomaiorsk four times,
and there was a ground battle in the settlement.
According to video footage with location information,
Russian troops attacked from the south and engaged Ukrainian troops in a ground battle near the center of the village,
resulting in the abandonment of two Ukrainian anti-mine armored vehicles and a pickup truck,
and the destruction of a Russian tank.
There is also information that the Russian army suffered heavy losses and a temporary field hospital was opened in Zavitnevazaniya,
where a large number of wounded were brought in.
The image shown here is from the Russian side,
where they are scouting the situation in Staromaiorsk after the end of the ground war.
There is no doubt that a ground battle took place here,
and we have updated our battle map of this location from a Ukrainian recaptured area to a disputed area.
Rear areas
There were two large explosions in Luhansk,
one reportedly a Storm Shadow attack on a residence called the Luhansk Internal Affairs Academy where Russian military personnel live.
Southern Zaporizhia Oblast
South,
province of Kherson.
There are no reports of ground fighting in this sector,
but the Institute of War Studies estimates that Robotyne was most likely occupied by Russian troops.
The Russians also launched six attacks on Krinky,
which were repulsed by the Ukrainian army,
with no success for the Russians.
Meanwhile,
positional video footage indicates that the Russians attacked Potemkin Island,
penetrating north of the small river and possibly taking over some buildings.
That's all for today.
