Situation in Ukraine
It's been 681 days since Russia invaded Kyiv,
so let's start with general matters.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
Russian losses were
790 soldiers
9 tanks
14 armoured fighting vehicles
30 cannons
2 multiple rocket launchers
1 air defence system@
18 drones
1 cruise missile
49 other vehicles.
Across the entire front,
58 ground battles were reported in a single day.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses that can be visually confirmed is 1 to 3.0,
three times the number of losses on the Russian side compared to the Ukrainian side.
The losses on the Russian side are mostly infantry fighting vehicles,
and there is no particular trend in losses on the Ukrainian side:
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch the parts you need.
1.
Spokesman Kirby told a press briefing that "North Korea provided Russia with ballistic missile launchers and multiple ballistic missiles and fired at least one missile into Ukraine on 30 December last year and again a few days later".
The first missile "fell in a field" and apparently missed its target,
but the subsequent missiles were "under evaluation",
he said.
The spokesman condemned the attack,
saying,
"We expect Russia to use more North Korean missiles to target Ukraine's civilian infrastructure and kill innocent Ukrainian civilians."
The Wall Street Journal also reported that "Russia is also negotiating to acquire Iranian ballistic missiles and could do so in the spring.
Politico,
reporting on these developments,
analysed that the world's "two isolated countries have joined forces" and that Russia must now attack Ukraine,
and the Institute for the Study of War also analysed the likelihood that Russia alone "cannot produce the necessary ballistic missiles" to continue missile attacks.
Second.
Germany has renewed its military aid package to Ukraine,
providing a new Skynex air defence system.
Skynex is the latest short-range air defence system developed by Rheinmetall,
which,
according to Rheinmetall,
is capable of shooting down aircraft,
UAVs,
missiles and artillery shells at a range of 4 km.
Third.
There have been rumours that Russia is sending female prisoners of war to the front,
and it now appears that they have been confirmed at the front.
Ukrainian troops who repelled an attack by the Russian 64th Automated Rifle Brigade in the Zaporizha sector have been inspecting the Russian trenches,
A Ukrainian soldier told us that among the Russian Storm Z assault troops were several "women who were neither medics nor doctors",
and that they were "regular assault soldiers with their belongings".
He said that they had been shown on social media,
and that judging by their appearance,
they appeared to be from Buryard!
Now here is the war situation in each region.
We will tell you where the war situation has changed.
In the north-east,
towards the Luhansk region.
The Russian military offensive in this direction is receding.
Ukrainian military spokesman Ficho reported that 'the pace of Russian military operations is slowing down,
probably due to the deteriorating climate'.
On the battle map,
Russian forces launched three attacks in Sinkivka,
but Ukrainian forces repelled them.
Meanwhile,
Russian forces launched an offensive in Terny,
The Russians advanced directly to the location on the battle map and were repulsed by Ukrainian troops after infantry fighting vehicles dismounted their infantry,
who were then neutralised by cluster bombs.
The image shown is from the 60th Mechanised Brigade of the Ukrainian Army and is part of the appearance of the location on the battle map.
We are sending you a selection of quiet locations in accordance with YouTube rules.
There are no changes to the battle map.
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut.
This section reports on the battle for Bakhmut.
The Russians have made four attacks in this sector.
The drop in the number of Russian attacks is temporary,
and it is expected that the offensive will resume as soon as replenishment and reorganisation is complete.
In Bohodanivka,
Russian troops have launched an attack and Ukrainian troops are defending.
According to the positional video,
there is footage of a Ukrainian T64 being damaged at the location on the battle map in the centre of Bohodanivka,
and the Russian troops in this area are paratroopers actively using drones.
What we are showing you is the footage from the Russian side showing the location of the battle map.
We have updated the battle map as the contested area has expanded to this location.
Otherwise,
there has been no other information that has affected the battle map in this direction.
Southeast,
Donetsk region.
Weather in Avdiivka will be cloudy.
Minimum temperature 1‹C,
maximum 6‹C.
Today's weather forecast is cloudy and rainy.
The weather is cyclical and next week is predicted to be mid-winter cold.
Below is an update on the war situation in the direction of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
The Avdiivka area
The Russians have launched 13 attacks on Avdiivka and 19 on Pervomaiske and Neveleske.
Russian forces have been on the offensive to encircle Avdiivka since October,
and although the situation seems to be stabilising,
the Russians have not given up their offensive in Avdiivka.
The enemy has doubled its ground offensive in this direction," said Tarnavsky,
the Ukrainian army commander.
Meanwhile,
there are still civilians in Avdiivka,
and today two civilians escaped in armoured vehicles.
On the battle map,
the Russians are north of Krasnohorivka in a south-easterly direction,
towards Pervomaiske and Neveleske,
The Russians attacked,
but the Ukrainians defended,
and there has been no new information to change the battle map.
Meanwhile,
the Russian army is switching from a frontal assault by infantry to a frontal assault by armoured vehicles,
due to the heavy losses of soldiers so far and in order to achieve quick results for the Russian presidential elections in March.
However,
as you,
the viewer,
know,
the Russian military's armoured vehicle attacks have failed in various places in the past,
so it is highly likely that the same thing will happen again this time.
The one I am showing you is from the 110th mechanised brigade of the Ukrainian army,
The Russian troops are advancing from the mine site called Tellikon to the coking plant,
but are being repelled by mines.
Marinka sector
In this sector,
the Russians launched 14 attacks west of Marinka and Novomihailivka.
In Marinka,
the Russians first carried out air strikes west of Marinka and then used drones to attack Ukrainian positions.
The Russians chose the area to attack and destroyed everything there.
What I am showing you is a video from the Russian side showing the location on the battle map.
The area is marked with an orange line as disputed territory.
Meanwhile,
in Novomihailivka,
there were reports of a small position battle and the Russians carried out five air strikes,
but there is no change in the battle map.
South,
Zaporizhia Province.
In this area there are reports of camp battles in Priutne,
Staromaiorsk,
Verbove and Robotyne,
but no information on any changes to the battle map.
Rear areas.
There were reports of explosions at Evpatoria,
Saki airfield and Sevastopol in the Crimea,
and continued explosions in Belgorod.
There was also information that a Russian S400 fired a missile at a friendly Russian Su35 near Krasnopelekopsk,
Crimea,
but the Su35 evaded by reducing altitude and landing at a military airfield in Meltopol.
The fact that the missile was fired at a friendly aircraft due to a friendly/enemy identification system malfunction is a problem,
but the fact that the fired missile failed to shoot down the aircraft is also a problem for air defence capabilities.
South,
Kherson province.
In Krinky,
the Russians launched about 10 attacks,
but there was no information affecting the war situation.
Other.
A Russian Su34 fighter-bomber caught fire at the Shagol airfield in Chelyabinsk,
Russia,
1,600 km from the Ukrainian border.
The cause is said to be unknown,
but somehow the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Armed Forces has released information.
Video footage shows flames in the distance.
That's all for now.
Thank you for watching.
