Situation in Ukraine
It has been 740 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian losses were 1,150 soldiers
8 tanks
21 armored combat vehicles
22 cannons
1 multiple rocket launcher
2 air defense systems
2 drones
1 cruise missile
43 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 71 ground engagements in a single day.
Regarding the recent aircraft losses,
the Institute for the Study of War notes that,
assuming Russia has 300 fighter aircraft,
the loss of 15 aircraft is not negligible,
but some aircraft losses can be tolerated in order to pursue tactical gains in the offensive operations in eastern Ukraine.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 3.7,
compared to the losses on the Ukrainian side.
A high level of losses is observed on the Russian side,
with infantry fighting vehicles,
SUVs,
tanks and military trucks accounting for the majority of losses.
There is no particular trend on the Ukrainian side.
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to see where you need to go.
1.
The Washington Post published an article interviewing the Ukrainian Army's 3rd Assault Brigade,
recently deployed to Avdiivka,
and reported that "the Russian assault alternates between trained and untrained soldiers.
One Ukrainian soldier said that "three-quarters of the attacking Russian soldiers had some military training,
while the other quarter were just confused," and that "some soldiers attacked without bulletproof vests or helmets,
while others had advanced equipment.
An earlier analysis by the Institute for the Study of War found that "by alternating attacks between soldiers of different levels,
they maintain the tempo of their offensive operations while preventing wear and tear on their trained soldiers.
Second.
Ukraine's Khmelinitsky Court of Appeal awarded 200,000 hryvnia ($800,000) in damages to a man who sued the Russian Federation for psychological damage caused by the war.
According to the lawsuit,
the man sued the Russian Federation for 1.2 million hryvnia ($4.8 million) and the Ukrainian government for 1 hryvnia ($4) in damages for "the daily stress caused by air raid sirens and long stays in evacuation centers,
as well as the psychological pressure caused by the disruption of his sleep,
which has accelerated his aging process.
The first court dismissed the man's claim,
but a subsequent appeals court awarded the Russian Federation 200,000 hryvnia in damages.
3.
News that the US sanctions of December are taking effect.
First,
the Moscow Times reports that Russian importers are now almost unable to send money to Hong Kong banks.
Hong Kong has an easy customs clearance process for Russia,
and many Hong Kong banks have accepted ruble transfers in the past.
Hundreds of Russian parallel importers have therefore opened accounts with Hong Kong banks and used them to parallel import normally unavailable items such as iPhones,
but they complain that Hong Kong banks have stopped accepting payments since late last year.
One importer complained,
"The only option left is to send money to Hong Kong via another third country,
which takes a week longer and costs 20% more.
In addition,
recently released Turkish trade statistics report that exports from Turkey to Russia fell 33% from the previous year to $670 million.
While Turkey supports Ukraine's territorial integrity and is not participating in the sanctions against Russia,
the sanctions were recently extended to Turkish companies,
forcing Turkish banks to re-evaluate their ruble transactions.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
We will tell you where the war situation is changing.
You can follow the changes in the war situation in detail on the large full-screen display.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
This section reports on the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line from Halkiu and Kupyansk,
and from the Siversk area to the Bakhmut area.
In this area the Russians attacked four times near Tabayivka,
eight times from Terny to Sibersk,
and 15 times in the direction of Bakhmut.
In the area from Tabayivka to Terny,
the Russian attacks were repulsed by the Ukrainian army,
and there was no information about any change in the battle map.
Around Sibersk
Russian troops are on the offensive for the full occupation of the Luhansk region.
According to the found video,
on the Donetsk-Luhansk oblast border,
east of Verkhonokamyanske,
Russian troops have attacked and reached the oblast border.
The one we are showing you is from the 54th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
and it confirms that Russian troops are at the location indicated on the map.
We have updated the battle map to show this location as occupied by Russian forces from the disputed territory.
By the way,
a viewer asked a question,
but the submitter has posted the full text in the NOTE,
so if you want to know how the war situation has changed at a point where the war situation has changed less,
such as Verkhonokamyanske,
you can search by the name of the town to see how the war situation has changed since the past.
Bakhmut Area
There is no confirmed information from Bohdanivka to Ivanivske,
and the battle map has not changed,
but it seems that heavy fighting is taking place in Ivanivske.
First,
the Russians have shelled the Chashivyar outpost of Canai six times to check the Ukrainian forces.
Next,
in the urban area of Ivanivske,
the location-based video shows Russian troops using a drone to attack government buildings on the mapped Vorenetska Street,
damaging a Ukrainian BMP1 infantry fighting vehicle,
confirming that this location is the front line for the Ukrainian side.
The video shown is from the Russian side and shows the T-junction with Suvobody Street,
as indicated on the map.
Here is a brief description of the topography of Ivanivske,
since a viewer asked about it: the southeastern side occupied by the Russians is about 150 to 180 meters,
the northern side of the town is about 120 meters,
and the western side of the town,
defended by the Ukrainian army,
is 150 meters. The Russian troops enter from the highlands in the southeast,
avoiding the lowlands in the north.
However,
if we draw the map a little further,
once on the western outskirts of Ivanivske,
there is an immediate series of high plateaus at 200 meters above sea level,
and the elevation increases slightly until reaching Chashivyar at 240 meters above sea level.
Depending on the ammunition of the Ukrainian army and how far the Russian offensive continues,
the Ukrainian army will be able to continue inflicting heavy losses on the Russian army by taking advantage of the terrain.
Otherwise,
there have been no changes to the battle map on this front.
Southeast Donetsk region
The weather in Avdiivka is cloudy.
The minimum temperature is 0 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 6 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is generally cloudy.
The forecast is also for stable weather for a while,
with calm winds and cloudy skies.
Here is an update on the situation in the areas of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka area
Russian troops have carried out 14 attacks in this area.
Russian military bloggers are reporting that due to the recent heavy offensive,
the Russian army has run out of some equipment and the commanders in the field are making bullshit maps to report to the command.
Some military bloggers may be reporting this as the state of the war.
Meanwhile,
Ukrainian military spokesman Likhovy reports that the Russians are making local gains,
but that none of Berdych,
Orlivka,
or Tonenke have been taken.
1.
On the Stepove-Verdichi axis of attack,
the fighting is not as intense as the day before yesterday,
but east of Verdichi,
Russian drones continue to attack abandoned Ukrainian military equipment.
What we are showing you is footage from the Russian side showing M1A1 Abrams abandoned at the location on the map.
It is said that the Russians will attack and report on the abandoned tanks as often as they can because of the high bounty for destroying Western tanks.
There is no change in the battle map.
2.
The fighting in Orlivka is fierce.
As we reported yesterday,
according to video footage with location information,
the Russians attacked north of the city and advanced for a time to a section where a cultural center and a supermarket were located,
but unconfirmed reports indicate that Ukrainian troops then counterattacked from Semenivka and pushed the Russians back.
So there is no change in the battle situation.
3.
In Tonenke,
both sides are attacking positions in the rear.
The Russians are attacking residential areas in the northwest with multiple rockets,
while the Ukrainians are attacking the eastern outskirts of the city with drones.
The battle map remains unchanged.
On the other attack axes,
Pervomaiske and Neveleske,
the Russians attacked,
but were repulsed by Ukrainian forces,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
Marinka sector
The Russians launched 25 attacks in this sector.
In Novomihailivka,
according to several reports,
Russian troops entered the city from the south.
Russian troops entered the town from the place they claimed to have occupied in the March 2 video,
occupied the first two buildings,
and apparently entered about 100 meters inside.
We have updated the battle map of the area from contested to occupied by the Russians.
The situation is becoming more complicated as the defenders are forced to operate on two fronts,
east and south.
South,
Zaporizhia Province.
In this area,
the Russians attacked Robotyne four times,
but were repulsed by Ukrainian forces,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
In Robotyne,
according to video footage with location information,
the Russians attacked from the southwestern side of the town,
but were repelled by Ukrainian forces using five BTR-82 armored fighting vehicles. The Russian army's attack on the city center failed,
and the Ukrainian army regained full control of the city.
South,
Kherson province.
In this area the Russians carried out an attack on Krinky.
According to the video with location information,
Ukrainian troops in the area shown on the map,
who were in a position,
responded to the approaching Russian soldiers with grenades,
while receiving information on the position of the Russian troops by drone. The Russian soldiers,
not knowing what was going on,
panicked and retreated.
The battle map remains unchanged.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
