Situation in Ukraine
It has been 738 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian losses were 960 soldiers
14 tanks
29 armored combat vehicles
47 cannons
3 multiple rocket launchers
5 air defense systems
1 aircraft
35 drones
3 cruise missiles
67 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 83 ground battles in a single day.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 2.3 compared to the losses on the Ukrainian side.
The losses on the Russian side are mostly infantry fighting vehicles and civilian trucks,
while on the Ukrainian side pickup trucks stand out.
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to see where you need to go.
First.
There have been several reports about the deployment of troops to Ukraine.
First,
Le Monde reports that President Macron has reiterated that he is considering sending special forces to Ukraine and that the issue will be discussed again at the NATO summit in March.
But Kruse,
a former French Foreign Security Service official,
said,
"Secret diplomats from Western intelligence services and members of special forces are already in Ukraine and working there.
It is an open secret," he said.
Also according to the Telegraph,
Chancellor Scholz denied giving Taurus missiles to Ukraine at a press conference on Monday,
but said at the time that "Britain and France are approaching Ukraine with their own systems," with Storm Shadow and Scalp missiles in mind,
and that he would send military personnel to Ukraine.
Prime Minister Scholz went on to say that if Germany were to provide Taurus missiles,
they would need ground support and "German troops will also be sent to Ukraine",
implicitly referring to Britain and France,
which was criticized as an "irresponsible statement".
Canadian Defense Minister Blair also stated that Canada is prepared to send Canadian troops to Ukraine for training and other purposes,
saying,
"We are prepared to send them to Ukraine away from the front lines where it is clear that they will not be involved in combat operations.
Second.
Navalny's funeral was held in Moscow,
and the crowd did not disperse at the time set by the authorities,
but began shouting anti-war slogans.
The crowd formed a long line throughout the day,
chanting "Bring the soldiers home," "Putin will die with us," "Heroes don't die," etc.,
and remained there for a long time despite the authorities' attempts to stop them.
3.
A guest on the Russian propaganda talk show "Meeting Price" admitted that the war in Ukraine has been a failure.
A regular guest on the show,
Fedorov,
a former deputy head of the Russian Foreign Ministry,
stressed that "in two years of war,
Russia has not achieved anything that was originally planned," in reference to President Putin's special military operation,
causing panic on the show.
The moderator repeatedly tried to interrupt him,
but Fedorov would have none of it.
He said: "Nothing has been achieved in terms of the goals declared by President Putin on February 24,
2022. Russia has lost sight of its goals,
and the war will continue for a long time.
The moderator and the other speakers asked,
"Why are you saying this?"
The moderator and the other speakers replied,
"Why are you saying this?" and "There is no date given for the goals," causing the room to erupt.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
We will tell you where the war situation is changing.
You can follow the changes in the war situation on the large full-screen display.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
This section reports on the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line from Halkiu and Kupyansk,
and from the area around Siversk to Bakhmut.
In this area the Russians attacked Shinkivka,
Tabayivka,
Terny and Bilohorivka,
and twice in the area of Bakhmut.
Svatove-Kreminna line
There is unconfirmed information that Ukrainian troops advanced south of Nadia and Russian troops retreated to Serhiyivka.
The battle map has been updated from the Russian-occupied area to the contested area,
as the Russians are providing information to their detriment.
Bakhmut direction
In this direction,
ground fighting is taking place in Ivanivske.
Ukrainian military spokesman Evrash reported that Ukrainian troops have established defensive positions east of Chashivyar,
including minefields and obstacles,
and although no photos are available,
the Institute of War Studies has also confirmed that Ukrainian troops are building a ring fortification.
We have also drawn a single blue line on the battle map,
albeit a short one.
1.
According to the found video,
the Ukrainian forces counterattacked on the southern outskirts of Ivanivske and won the battle of positions.
The Russian army was able to confirm this by conducting drone strikes on the locations shown on the map.
What we are showing you is a video from the Russian side showing the location shown on the map. You can see that the trenches are quite solid.
We have updated the battle map to show this location as retaken by Ukrainian forces from the disputed territory.
However,
later there was unconfirmed information that Russian forces had launched a general attack on Ivanivske,
so the situation remains unpredictable.
Otherwise,
the Russian attack was repulsed by the Ukrainian army,
and there was no information about any change in the battle map.
Southeast Donetsk region
The weather in Avdiivka is forecast to be hazy,
with a minimum temperature of -2‹C and a maximum of 8‹C today.
Here is an update on the situation in the areas of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka
The Russians have carried out about 25 attacks in this area.
The Russians are on the offensive,
but as we reported yesterday,
the attacking forces are deteriorating due to wear and tear,
and the results are becoming less and less successful.
1.
From Stepove to Berdych,
the fighting was fierce and Russian forces suffered heavy casualties.
According to video footage with location information,
Russian troops attacked Berdici from Stepove,
were ambushed by Ukrainian forces,
and were annihilated at every turn.
There is only one attack route to Berdici,
making it an easy target,
and approaching armored vehicles were destroyed by anti-tank missiles,
and dismounted soldiers were decimated by the 25mm cannon of Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
The video shown is from the 47th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army and shows a Russian armored vehicle with infantry,
then a Bradley infantry fighting vehicle after the soldiers are unloaded.
The Russian soldiers will certainly not feel alive.
Also,
although we can't show it here on the platform,
there are images of many Russian soldiers resting on top of each other on the railroad tracks to the east,
which fill the screen.
Meanwhile,
Ukrainian forces also lost an M1A1 Abrams tank to a Russian attack in the settlement of Berdici,
shown on the map.
The battle map remains unchanged.
2.
Ground battles also took place in Orlivka and Tonenke,
but the Russian attack was repelled by the Ukrainian army,
and there is no change in the battle map here either.
The battle maps on the other attack axes in Pervomaiske and Neveleske remained unchanged as well.
Marinka Area
In this sector the Russians made about 30 attacks.
1.
In Krasnohorivka,
north of Marinka,
the Ukrainian Army's 3rd Assault Brigade appears to have almost completely pushed Russian troops out of the town,
according to a combination of positional video and multiple sources.
What we are showing you is from the Ukrainian side of the town,
and the location is shown on the map.
The battle map has been updated to show that Ukrainian forces have recaptured the area from the south of the city to the second Paris Commune Street,
and the entire city as disputed territory from Russian-occupied territory.
2.
The ground fighting in Novomihailivka was fierce.
First,
the Russians occupied the place shown on the map to the south of the city and marked it with a flag to claim the occupation.
This location is at the end of the so-called Road of Death,
where a number of Russian vehicles have been destroyed,
and the flagging Russians appear to be very cautious,
so there are no changes to the battle map at this time.
3rd.
The Russians also launched an attack from the east of the city,
advancing about three blocks,
but this attack was repulsed by the Ukrainian forces,
and vice versa,
the Ukrainians then counterattacked,
pushing the Russians back about five blocks on the north side of the city,
and in the end the Russians had no casualties.
Southern province of Zaporizhia
Velikanovo Shilka area
While the battle for positions in this area continues,
positional video footage shows Russian forces bombing the mapped area on the eastern outskirts of Urozyne,
confirming the presence of Ukrainian forces in this area.
The battle map has been updated to show this area as having been retaken from the contested territory by Ukrainian forces.
Olyhiu Area
South of Robotyne,
Ukrainian forces continued their counterattack,
and according to the located video,
Ukrainian forces have recaptured up to the mapped border forest.
The presence of Ukrainian troops can be confirmed by the fact that Russian troops are counterattacking with drones and thermobaric bombs.
The battle map has been updated to show this location as retaken by Ukrainian forces from Russian-occupied territory.
South,
Kherson Province.
No major ground battles have been reported in this area,
and there are no changes to the battle map.
Other.
Bloomberg reports that the first shipment of some 800,000 artillery shells,
the existence of which was revealed by Czech President Pavel at the Munich Security Conference,
will arrive in Ukraine within weeks,
thanks to funding from the Netherlands,
Canada,
Denmark,
and an anonymous country.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
