Situation in Ukraine
It has been 703 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
general things.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian military losses are
770 soldiers
6 tanks
15 armored combat vehicles
3 cannons
4 drones
16 other vehicles.
The high loss of soldiers confirms that the Russians have gone back to an infantry attack from an armored vehicle attack.
Across the entire front,
82 ground attacks were reported in a single day.
And the ratio of the number of Ukrainian equipment losses to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 3.9 compared to the number of losses on the Ukrainian side.
The Russian losses were infantry fighting vehicles,
tanks,
guns,
and boats,
suggesting that the Russians may have started using small boats in Khrson.
On the Ukrainian side,
the main losses were tanks,
pickups,
and boats.
Here is a short news report on the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to see where you need to go.
1.
Focus magazine published an interview with Major General Yakhun of the Ukrainian Security Service (SSU) about the series of attacks on the oil and gas terminals in St.
Petersburg (Leningrad) and Tuapse,
which we reported on in this video.
To make a long story short: 1.
Russia spends $1 billion ($150 billion) a day on the war in Ukraine,
which is financed by Russian oil revenues.
Oil refineries and storage facilities finance the war effort,
provide fuel for tanks and armored vehicles,
and are military-related facilities.
3.
Attacking them has a significant impact on Russia's military capabilities,
and the SSU,
in cooperation with the General Intelligence Directorate (GUR) of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense,
has also been involved in the destruction of Russian oil facilities.
He explained that the destruction of the oil refineries was part of an operation against the Russian military-industrial complex.
He said that "ships carrying Russian crude oil are also military targets and could be destroyed," suggesting that the tankers carrying Russian crude oil,
which are the source of funding for special military operations,
could be sabotaged in some way.
Second.
Russian oil cannot be unloaded in South Korea.
Reuters reports that 14 tankers carrying 10 million barrels of Russian oil have been anchored off the South Korean coast for weeks with no takers.
According to shipping officials,
some of these tankers were originally destined for India,
but lost their destination due to U.S.
sanctions and the lack of payment options to circumvent the sanctions.
Incidentally,
10 million barrels is equivalent to 45 days of Sakhalin 1 production in the Russian Far East,
which is worth $6 billion even if calculated simply at the maximum price of $60 per barrel.
The JoongAng Ilbo also reported that Russian spokeswoman Zakharova,
referring to South Korea on the 26th,
warned that "it could completely disrupt relations with Russia,
with which we once had friendly relations.
Third.
Newsweek spoke with Jay Smart,
an expert on the situation at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union,
who said,
"The ongoing heating disaster has pushed Russia to the breaking point,
and President Putin faces a new crisis.
According to him,
"thousands of civilians have already frozen to death in Russia," and he pointed out that the reason for this is that "Russia has cut costs on infrastructure maintenance in order to wage its war.
In Russia,
even in the capital city of Moscow,
a quarter of the citizens do not have access to hot water for heating,
and combined with power outages,
there has been a spate of deaths,
especially among the elderly.
Now let me show you the war situation in each region.
Let me tell you where the war situation is changing.
Northeast: Luhansk region
Eastern part,
towards Bakhmut
We will report on the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line from Halkiu and Kupyansk,
and from the area around Siversk to Bakhmut.
In this area the Russians attacked six times from Shinkivka to Stelmachyukha,
seven times from Makiiukha and Terny,
and eight times from the Bakhmut area.
Ukrainian military spokesman Ficho appeared on television and said what he had heard from Russian POWs: "In Russia,
during participation in special military operations,
debt repayments are deferred and loans are forgiven if a person is killed in action.
Russian citizens with low incomes buy expensive houses for their families and relatives before coming to Ukraine and take out large mortgages,
They then volunteer for the Russian military,
sacrificing their own lives to solve the housing problems of their family and relatives.
They seem to volunteer knowing that they will die in Ukraine.
Around Sibersk
In Bilohorivka,
where Russian forces have recently attacked aggressively,
found video footage confirms that the area is under Ukrainian military control,
as Russian forces shelled south of the Bilohorivka salt mine.
The Russian video shown here is from a Russian drone observing the area.
The battle map has been updated to show that Ukrainian forces have retaken this area from disputed territory.
Bakhmut area
In Bohdanivka,
Ukrainian forces continue to counterattack and advance.
According to localized video,
Russian troops have counter-attacked and advanced between Bohodanivka and Kromove,
between the railway and the main road,
O0506.
The presence of Ukrainian troops at this location can be confirmed by the fact that after the Russian troops withdrew,
they shelled the position with 240mm self-propelled artillery.
What we are showing you is drone footage from the Russian side.
This area was occupied by Russian troops from the 20th of last month to the beginning of this month,
but after the New Year the Russian troops stopped moving,
and this time the Ukrainian troops are in the area.
However,
after the beginning of the year,
the Russian army stopped moving and the Ukrainian army retook the area this time.
Currently,
the front line is a cemetery on the O0506 road,
where Russian troops have been pushed in.
We have updated the battle map to show the contested area in this vicinity as recaptured by Ukrainian forces and the Russian-occupied area as contested.
There are no other changes to the battle map,
but the Ukrainian military has been conducting concentrated drone strikes in Kurdumivka to deter Russian troop movements.
Southeast Donetsk region
The weather in Avdiivka is cloudy and sometimes snowy.
The minimum temperature is -3 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 0 degrees Celsius.
Today's weather forecast is cloudy with occasional snow.
The cold has subsided,
but a weak cold air mass is forecast for next week.
Here is an update on the situation in Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka
In this sector,
the Russians conducted 16 attacks on Avdiivka,
Pervomaiske,
and Neveleske.
1.
Around Krasnohorivka,
in the north-west,
where the Ukrainian army has advanced,
and in Stepove,
positional battles are taking place.
In the northwest,
the Russians are conducting an infantry assault,
while the Ukrainians are using drones to reduce their strength.
Drones are an effective weapon for clearing trenches because they can eliminate the enemy in the shadows where artillery cannot reach,
but they are also vulnerable because on average a single drone can only disable one Russian soldier,
so a sortie is needed to cover the number of soldiers.
The one shown is from the 23rd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian Army,
and shows Russian soldiers advancing just west of the railroad tracks at the location on the map.
There are no changes to the battle map.
2.
Fierce fighting is taking place in the residential area south of Avdiivka.
The Russians appear to be using sewer pipes to enter the residential area,
and the Ukrainians can neutralize the enemy with machine guns and drones from armored vehicles when they come to the surface,
but there is no way to deal with the Russian soldiers underground,
and the entire residential area is a whack-a-mole situation with no end in sight.
The Ukrainian military is also reducing its forces with artillery fire,
including cluster shells,
to prevent the restaurant from becoming a Russian military base.
The image shown is from the Ukrainian side,
looking south from the restaurant.
The battle map is unchanged.
Third.
At Severne,
this time the Russians attacked in a convoy,
but were destroyed in the Ukrainian kill zone,
and the Russians lost six MTLB armored vehicles and at least three BMP1 infantry fighting vehicles,
destroying the unit.
The battle map remains unchanged.
Marinka sector
The Russians launched 25 attacks on Novomihailivka,
in the direction of Heolyivka,
but all were repulsed by Ukrainian forces,
with no success for the Russians.
The fact that the report ends with a single word,
despite 25 attacks,
shows that the Russians are losing momentum.
South,
Zaporizhia province.
In this sector the Russians attacked six times at Zolotaniva and Staromaiorsk and three times at Robotyne,
but the Ukrainian forces were repulsed and the Russians had no success.
Ukrainian forces used artillery and drone strikes to deter Russian troop movements,
and there were no reports of significant ground fighting.
Southern Kherson Province
The Russians have launched six attacks in this sector,
but so far there has been no change in the battle map.
However,
the Russians have not given up their attempts to eliminate Krinky's bridgehead,
There are reports that a private military company owned by Moscow Mayor Sobyanin has entered Krinky.
The mayor set up his own private military company last December and has recruited Wagner's soldiers to begin with,
with dozens of pickup trucks equipped with drone jamming equipment and dozens of small infrared cameras,
The company is called "Sobyansky," after the mayor.
It seems we live in an era in Russia where even the mayor has his own private military company.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
