Situation in Ukraine
It has been 785 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
a general matter.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian losses were 910 soldiers
3 tanks
8 armored combat vehicles
13 artillery pieces
5 drones
1 cruise missile
36 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 68 ground battles in a single day.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 6.2 compared to the number of losses on the Ukrainian side.
Losses on the Russian side are particularly high for military trucks and infantry fighting vehicles,
which actively send soldiers to attack on a daily basis.
Conversely,
artillery is somewhat more prominent on the Ukrainian side.
This is a short news report about the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch where you want.
First.
According to Reuters,
U.S. President Johnson announced Saturday that the U.S. will vote on military aid,
including to Ukraine.
At the same time,
he announced the contents of a bill that would provide more than $95 billion in security assistance,
including $60.84 billion for the conflict in Ukraine.
The substance of the bill is virtually identical to that passed by the Senate,
with the only differences being the addition of a provision that $10 billion of the Ukrainian aid be discussed as a loan and a requirement that ATACMS be sent quickly,
according to CNN. CNN reports that the administration of the day will forgive the debt.
While President Biden has stated that he will "sign it immediately",
hardline Republicans are outraged and are moving forward with a motion to remove Chairman Johnson,
which is expected to be defeated by a majority vote.
The bill will be voted on by the House of Representatives and then again by the Senate,
where the President will sign it into law.
2nd.
Ukrainian forces attacked the Jankoy airfield in Crimea,
and although no official announcement has been made,
the attack appears to have been successful.
Russian military bloggers claim that 12 ATACMS were used and that the 77th Anti-Aircraft Missile Brigade of the Russian Armed Forces was targeted,
resulting in a secondary explosion of ammunition and 22 missing and 15 wounded.
Although there has been no announcement from the Ukrainian side,
Natalie Khmenyuk,
a spokesperson for the Ukrainian military's Southern Operations Command,
stated that "the military airfield and related facilities are legitimate military targets," suggesting that the attack was carried out by Ukrainian forces.
Separately,
Ukrainian forces destroyed an aircraft plant and a radar on Russian territory,
which we will report later in the explosion and fire in the rear area.
3.
TASS reported that Russian forces have decided to withdraw from Nagorno-Karabakh ahead of schedule,
according to spokesman Peskov.
Reports from Azerbaijan indicate that the withdrawal has already taken place.
In Nagorno-Karabakh,
where Azerbaijan and Armenia have been fighting,
a ceasefire was brokered by Russia in November 2020,
and Russian peacekeepers were stationed in the area. Armenia is turning away from Russia.
The Institute for the Study of War analyzes that the force is small,
at 1,900 troops,
and will have no real impact on the war in Ukraine.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
We will focus on the areas where the war situation has changed.
You can follow the changes with the date on the large full-screen display.
Northeast: Luhansk Oblast
Eastern Bakhmut
This section covers the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line,
from the area around Siversk to the area of Bakhmut.
In this area the Russians made 9 attacks in the forests from Terny to Serebryansky and 19 attacks around Sibersk and in the direction of Bakhmut.
Svatove-Kreminna line
Ukrainian counter-attack operations continue on the Donetsk-Luhansk border,
7.5 kilometers east of Terny,
where we reported yesterday on the Ukrainian military counter-attack.
The Ukrainian military is attempting to isolate or otherwise weaken the frontline Russian forces approaching Terny by attacking the poorly defended rear,
making it difficult for them to resupply the border area.
According to the location-based video,
Russian BMP infantry fighting vehicles and other vehicles were destroyed at the locations shown on the map.
What we are showing you is a video of the tactical assessment of the Ukrainian side.
Meanwhile,
the Russians launched an attack 2.5 kilometers from Terny,
but this attack was repulsed by Ukrainian forces.
The battle map remains unchanged.
Around ChasivYar
As we have been reporting daily,
the Kremlin has ordered its military to occupy ChasivYar by May 9th for the purpose of political propaganda.
May 9 is an important day for Russia,
as viewers have pointed out,
it is the anniversary of the victory over Germany and the Soviet Union and the surrender of Nazi Germany,
and this year it also coincides with President Putin's fifth inauguration ceremony.
Fedorenko,
commander of the Ukrainian Army's 92nd Assault Brigade,
appeared on Ukrainian television and said,
"In this sector,
the Russians are trying to attack with armored vehicles and small infantry advances,
and the Ukrainians,
despite their lack of ammunition,
are defending effectively with numerous mines and drones,
while the Russians are losing 70% of their strength with each attack. The Russians are losing 70% of their forces with each attack," he said,
explaining that the Russians are conducting infantry assaults in addition to mechanized attacks.
1.
In Bohodanivka,
which we reported yesterday as being defended by Ukrainian troops,
video footage with location information shows that Russian troops entered the forest leading to Kalinivka,
and Ukrainian T64s counterattacked,
but lost control of their vehicles to anti-tank missiles from the Russian 200th Automated Rifle Brigade,
which submerged them and evacuated their crews. The ground battle was fierce,
and some information indicates that the crews were evacuated.
What we are showing you is a view of the locations indicated on the map.
Some of the video cannot be shown as video,
so we will put it on the Telegram channel in the overview section.
2.
In the Canal,
Russian troops are conducting drone,
artillery and air strikes,
but there is no information about ground fighting.
Third.
In the forested area south of ChasivYar,
there is no information on any change in the battle situation,
but the Russians are sending soldiers in 4-wheeled ATVs to the front and are trying to penetrate the forest by hiding in it with small infantry units.
Also south of there,
on T0504,
there are reports that a convoy of Ukrainian troops carrying supplies was attacked by Russian troops,
and that trucks and armored vehicles were destroyed or abandoned.
So far,
no changes have been made to the battle map.
Otherwise,
the Russian attack was repulsed by Ukrainian forces,
and there was no information affecting the battle map.
Southeast Donetsk region
The weather in Avdiivka is cloudy.
The minimum temperature is 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 24 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast for today is cloudy.
Windy weather is forecast until the 21st,
which may affect the use of drones at certain times of the day.
We will keep you informed about the war situation in the direction of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka area
The Russians made 11 attacks in this sector.
The Russians had been trying to penetrate the Ukrainian defensive lines head-on,
but now they began to use the tactic of going around from the outskirts of the city.
1.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that the Russians have attacked along the railway line leading to Ocheretiyne and are advancing slightly. We will update the battle map as the area of contested territory expands,
and will update again as more information becomes available.
Second.
As we reported at the beginning of this report,
the Russian offensive in Berdych and Semenivka has been slow,
and Ukrainian forces have repelled them. On the other hand,
there are reports that Ukrainian forces are fighting Russian forces at a dam northwest of Tonenke. At the moment there is no confirmed information and no change in the war situation map.
Otherwise,
the Ukrainian army has repulsed the Russian attack,
and there is no information about any change in the battle map.
It is assumed that the Russians are concentrating their forces in Krasnohorivka,
which will be described next.
Marinka area
The Russians made 20 attacks in this area.
1.
In Krasnohorivka,
north of Marinka,
as reported in yesterday's video,
the Ukrainian army has retreated to a factory that is easier to defend,
and the Russian army has taken over the residential area south of the railroad tracks.
The Ukrainian troops defending here are a well-equipped force,
so we expect the area between the railroad tracks and the factory to be a kill zone for Russian troops from now on.
Otherwise,
in Pobieda,
Novomihailivka,
and elsewhere,
Russian attacks were repelled by Ukrainian forces,
and there was no information affecting the battle map.
Backward region
1.
In Kazan,
1050 km from the Ukrainian border,
large explosions and smoke were observed at a production and repair plant for Russian Tu-22 Backfire supersonic bombers and Tu-160 Blackjack supersonic strategic bombers.
Ukraine's Main Intelligence Directorate,
GUR,
has also announced this,
and it appears that a drone strike was carried out by GUR.
2.
The GUR also announced that a Russian Mi8 transport helicopter was destroyed at the Kryazy airfield in Samara in the south.
In the video released by GUR,
you can see flashes of light in the darkness in slow motion.
3.
There are reports of an explosion in Voronezh,
although details are not clear.
The video is not clear because it is night,
but you can see what looks like a fl
South,
Zaporizhia province
South,
Kherson Province
In this sector,
the Russians attacked four times near Stalomaiorsk and Robotyne,
and five times near Krinky,
but the Ukrainian army repulsed all of them,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
That's all for today.
Thank you for watching.
