Situation in Ukraine
It has been 784 days since Russia invaded Kyiv.
First,
general things.
According to the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces,
the Russian losses were 710 soldiers
4 tanks
18 armored combat vehicles
15 artillery guns
1 air defense system
2 drones
1 cruise missile
26 other vehicles.
The entire front reported 104 ground battles in a single day.
And the ratio of the number of losses of Ukrainian equipment to Russian losses,
which can be visually confirmed,
is 1 to 2.9,
compared to the number of losses on the Ukrainian side.
The losses on the Russian side are mostly tanks,
infantry fighting vehicles and military trucks,
which are aggressively attacked.
Conversely,
on the Ukrainian side,
civilian vehicles are somewhat more prominent.
Here is a short news report on the situation in Ukraine.
You can also use YouTube's chapter feature to watch as needed.
1.
President Zelensky stated in an interview with the US PBS program that "when the Russians destroyed the Tripiliya thermal power plant,
11 missiles came at us,
but the Ukrainian military shot down the first seven missiles,
but there were no more missiles,
and four were not shot down," and that the air defense missiles were exhausted.
He clarified that the air defense missiles were exhausted.
Incidentally,
the Tripiliya Thermal Power Plant,
Ukraine's largest thermal power plant located on the outskirts of Kyiv,
was destroyed by Russian missiles on November 11.
He also noted that Israel had shot down 300 missiles and suicide drones from Iran,
adding,
"This is what an alliance is,
and this is what Ukraine lacks".
Second.
In Russia,
the collapse of the Orenburg dam has caused major damage,
but also in Tomsk,
west of Krasnoyarsk,
the dam on the Tom River collapsed,
causing flooding.
According to the Russian Ministry for Emergency Situations,
as of yesterday the water level of the Tomsk River had risen 99 cm in one day,
flooding 138 houses,
and the situation is expected to worsen in the coming days,
with 10 settlements in danger of being submerged.
Video footage also shows the earth of the dam collapsing one at a time.
Meanwhile,
in Orsk,
the second largest city in the Orenburg region,
where more than 7,000 homes have been flooded,
the mayor has been heavily criticized by residents for evacuating to Dubai with his family when the floods hit.
According to the Russian Anti-Corruption Foundation,
Orsk Mayor Kozupitsa bought a 90-square-meter apartment with a swimming pool and gym in Dubai for 33 million rubles and drew the ire of residents for being in Dubai with his family when the floods occurred.
Izvestiya also found out that the Orsk city authorities cut the cost of maintaining the dam by a third this year,
allocating only 1.6 million rubles to the project.
Third.
We learned that Russia is using female prisoners for the Ukrainian war effort.
According to the report,
female prisoners are being recruited mainly as medics,
snipers and,
if they are particularly wanted,
as assault soldiers.
The popularity of the program is high because of the limited information in the prisons,
the lack of knowledge about the realities of the war in Ukraine,
and the promise of high pay and freedom upon release,
and all prisoners who apply for the job do so in the belief that they will return home alive.
Now,
here is the war situation in each region.
I will concentrate on the areas where the war situation has changed.
You can follow the changes with the date on the large full-screen display.
Northeast: Luhansk Region
Eastern Bakhmut
This section reports on the war situation on the Svatove-Kreminna line,
from the area around Siversk to the area of Bakhmut.
In this area the Russians attacked 8 times in Terny and 33 times around Sibersk and in the direction of Bakhmut.
Svatove-Kreminna line
7.5 kilometers east of Terny,
Ukrainian forces counterattacked Russian troops and managed to force the Russians to retreat from the Russian-occupied territory,
which we reported in our April 12 video.
Ukrainian forces are shelling Russian troops with artillery and cluster bombs,
and the new border of the Luhansk-Donetsk region has become the front line in this area.
What we are showing you is the Ukrainian side and the location shown on the map.
We have updated the battle map of this location from Russian occupied to disputed territory.
Sibersk and surroundings
1.
In Bilohorivka,
according to the video and other location information,
the 7th Motorized Rifle Brigade of the 2nd Tank Army of the Russian Army made an attack towards Bilohorivka,
which failed,
and the Ukrainian Army counterattacked to the salt mine in front of the mine's water treatment plant,
where a position battle took place.
The video shown here is from the Russian side,
observing the location shown on the map.
Since we found Ukrainian troops in this area,
we have updated the battle map to show that Ukrainian troops have retaken the disputed area.
Around ChasivYar
As we have been reporting daily,
the Russian military has begun operations to capture ChasivYar,
with orders to occupy the area by May 9,
known as President Putin's inauguration day.
Since Ukrainian air defenses have been depleted,
the Russians have been conducting 20 to 40 close-in airstrikes per day around ChasivYar to control the movements of the Ukrainian military.
The Russian forces are making slight advances,
but whether they will be able to occupy the area on May 9 depends largely on how the airstrikes and Ukrainian military defenses develop.
1.
In Bohodanivka,
the Russians are trying to advance through the southern settlements,
but the Ukrainians are blocking the Russian advance with positions in front of the forest.
For now,
there is no change in the battle map.
Second.
In Canal,
the Russians continue to bomb the high-rise apartments at the beginning of the town,
destroying the buildings to prevent them from being an obstacle during the assault.
A small number of Russian soldiers have also reached the waterway around the city,
which is being cleared by Ukrainian military drones.
3.
Unconfirmed reports indicate that Russian soldiers are also infiltrating the southern forests and crossing the canal south of Novi,
a development that is not alarming.
South of the city of Novi,
the water from the canal flows through a mile-wide underground tunnel that is directly accessible from the west and is expected to be a major Russian advance route in the event of a general offensive.
No changes have been made to the battle map yet.
Around Mayorsk
In Niuyoke,
as far as can be confirmed,
Russian forces have dropped 15 RBK500 cluster bombs on Ukrainian positions,
possibly as a diversionary tactic to disperse Ukrainian forces,
but Russian forces are prepared to launch an offensive in this direction.
The bombs are scattered over an area of about 500 meters in diameter,
and while not all are likely to hit,
even a nearby explosion would cause damage,
making the airstrikes a threat to the Ukrainian military.
Southeastern Donetsk Oblast.
The weather in Avdiivka is cloudy.
The minimum temperature is 12 degrees Celsius and the maximum is 25 degrees Celsius.
The weather forecast for today is cloudy.
Below is an update on the situation in the regions of Avdiivka,
Marinka and Vuhledar.
Avdiivka
The Russians carried out 15 attacks in this area.
Strong winds on this day reduced the effectiveness of drones,
so the Ukrainian army launched a counterattack with ground fire.
1.
According to the position video,
the Ukrainian army counter-attacked and recaptured some positions on the railroad tracks east of Novovakumchivka,
which we reported as occupied by the Russians yesterday.
The Russians then attacked the captured positions with multiple rockets and drones,
resulting in a positional battle with the Russians,
with casualties on both sides.
The author has confirmed the video,
but since it is not telegraphed,
the image has been modified to show it,
but the battle map has been updated to show the area of the battle from the Russian occupied area to the disputed area.
Second.
In Berdych,
pro-Russian social networking sites claim that Ukrainian troops have advanced,
while information closer to Ukraine contradicts that Russian troops are advancing,
so there is no doubt that this is a ground battle.
Some video footage with location information shows Russian troops conducting a drone attack on Ukrainian positions by a pond.
There is no change in the battle map here.
Third.
In Pervomaiske,
Ukrainian troops are attacking from five directions,
from the north,
two locations in the west,
a hospital and a school in the south,
and are fighting with Russian troops in a recapture operation.
The Russian army seems to have almost no troops in the occupied areas,
and the Ukrainian army is retaking positions one by one,
while the Russian army is responding by hastily flying drones over the captured positions.
The Russian drone is now in the air,
watching the Ukrainian army take positions.
The success or failure of this offensive operation is unknown at this time,
and the battle map remains unchanged,
but given the ease with which the positions were taken,
the Russians may be so preoccupied with the offensive that they have few troops left to maintain the front line.
Marinka Sector
The Russians made 30 attacks in this sector.
1.
At Krasnohorivka,
north of Marinka,
the Russians attacked Ukrainian positions in the northeast with multiple rocket launchers,
while simultaneously launching an attack from the southeast.
The Ukrainian forces responded with artillery fire and drones,
but at the same time the Ukrainian forces withdrew from a residential area south of the railroad tracks,
apparently having decided to defend a factory in the center of the town,
which was easier to defend.
In the open,
the Russians advanced and occupied the area despite heavy artillery fire from the Ukrainian forces,
which inflicted heavy casualties.
The Russians also produced the Turtle Titan No.
2 tank and deployed it to the front line in an attempt to break through.
The Ukrainian army also responded with artillery fire,
but the shelling was difficult to hit,
and the Turtle Titan No.
2 tank advanced across the railroad tracks,
made a U-turn when it came to the front of the factory,
which was the defensive line of the Ukrainian army,
and returned safely to its position.
What we are showing you is from the Russian side and is the view of the location shown on the map.
We have updated the battle map to the disputed area in front of the factory,
assuming that most of the residential area to the south was occupied by Russian troops from the Ukrainian-controlled and disputed area.
Otherwise,
in Novomihailivka and other areas,
Russian attacks were repelled by Ukrainian forces,
and there was no information to affect the battle map.
Rear areas
The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) reported the destruction of a Russian Nebo U general radar.
The VHF radar,
installed in Bryansk,
is reportedly capable of three-dimensional surveillance of airborne targets with an accuracy of 500 meters over a range of 700 kilometers,
covering most of the Ukrainian front lines.
The method of attack and other details have not been disclosed,
but these radars are said to cost $100 million each and,
according to the SBU,
"the radar has been tampered with".
Southern Zaporizhia Province
South,
Kherson Province.
In this area,
the Russians launched seven attacks on Stalomaiorsk and Robotyne,
and five on Krinky,
but the Ukrainian army repulsed all of them,
leaving the battle map unchanged.
That's all for today.
Thanks for watching.
