MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. The cases of suspicious infections in the Ukrainian army that are difficult to treat are most probably connected with the operation of US biolaboratories in Ukraine, the deputy speaker of the State Duma, Irina Yarovaya, has said.
"The Pentagon’s bio-laboratories in Ukraine are with a high degree of probability the source of infection of Ukrainian soldiers," said Yarovaya, a co-chair of the parliamentary commission for investigating the activities of US laboratories in Ukraine.
Earlier, the British daily The Financial Times published a story saying that in early 2023 doctors in one of NATO’s military hospitals in Germany studied test samples of wounded Ukrainian soldiers to conclude that they had been infected with pathogens resistant to antibiotics.
Yarovaya also noted that confirmations were already available the United States had tested unlicensed drugs on Ukrainian soldiers.
"Obviously, time is ripe for international experts, including those from the Lancet commission, to be seriously concerned about the Pentagon’s monstrous biological experiments," she believes.
Yarovaya recalled that in accordance with the US project codenamed UP-8 "laboratories in Lvov, Kharkov, Odessa and Kiev, conducted tests under the guidance of US military specialists on more than 4,000 military servicemen."
"According to the available data, during the Pentagon's medical experiments, about 20 Ukrainian soldiers died in the Kharkov laboratory alone, and another 200 were taken to the hospital," Yarovaya said.
The parliamentary commission for investigating US biolaboratories in Ukraine after a year of inquiries presented a report in April. The report was approved at meetings of the State Duma and the Federation Council. The final document summarized all information about the US military and biological programs in Ukraine and the facts and circumstances of how the US implements biological programs around the world. The parliamentary probe produced an unequivocal conclusion that the United States’ biological programs had an obvious dual purpose and were intended to be used, among other things, for military purposes.
UK not to send its warships to expedite Ukrainian grain exports

LONDON, October 2. /TASS/. Great Britain will not send its fleet to the Black Sea to facilitate Ukrainian grain exports, a reporter with The Guardian quoted British Defense Secretary Grant Shapps as saying on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Britain’s defense chief told Dan Sabbagh that he did not expect that the Royal Navy would engage in any patrol efforts in the Black Sea. In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph earlier though, Shapps said the British fleet could help defend commercial vessels carrying Ukrainian grain in the Black Sea.
Commenting on a call by his predecessor in the post, Ben Wallace, to give the Kiev regime an extra military aid worth of 2.3 bln pounds ($2.8 bln), the minister said that it was "not time to jump ahead of budgetary processes." In 2022, London committed around 2.3 bln pounds as military aid to Ukraine and the UK was resolved to match that package this year.
On July 17, Moscow declined to agree to another extension of the Black Sea grain deal, which had initially been concluded via the Istanbul agreements in July 2022 to guarantee the safe export of Ukrainian grain via the Black Sea as well as the lifting of restrictions to allow exports of Russian agricultural products and fertilizers. Moscow said that it was withdrawing from the deal due to the failure of the other parties to fulfill their obligations under the Russia-related provisions of the Istanbul agreements that called for facilitating the export of Russian agricultural products to global markets.
Later, the Russian Defense Ministry said that, due to the termination of the grain deal, effective at midnight on July 20 Moscow would consider all vessels heading to Ukrainian ports via the Black Sea to be carriers of military cargos, while the flag countries of such vessels would be regarded as parties to the Ukrainian conflict on the side of Kiev. Moreover, the ministry announced that the countries whose flags such vessels are carrying would be regarded as ones involved in the Ukraine conflict on the side of Kiev.

The upcoming year of 2024 will mark a pivotal turning point as regards determining the scope of further weapons supplies to Ukraine as the US gears up for its presidential election showdown, Richard Sakwa, professor emeritus of Russian and European politics at the University of Kent (UK) and honorary professor of political science at Moscow State University, told TASS.
In assessing the prospects for reduced Western military assistance to Kiev on the sidelines of the 20th annual session of the Valdai Discussion Club, the UK-based Russia scholar pointed out that the next year would provide all the answers. "The next year will be a fateful one. It’s the US election, and the [Ukrainian military] supplies issue will be resolved next year," Sakwa noted.
He also noted that signs had already emerged that Western countries "have their limits." "The stocks of weapons are running low," Sakwa stressed. The expert added, however, that "much will be decided on the battlefield."

MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. Turkey is mulling sending the Bayraktar Akincі drone to Ukraine, said the CEO of the manufacturing company Baykar, Haluk Bayraktar.
"With regard to Bayraktar Akinci, this matter is currently under consideration," the businessman said in an interview with Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, which is recognized as a foreign agent mass media in Russia. "We have permits from our government for this, which demonstrates how close we are to implementation," he added.
At the first International Defense Industries Forum in Kiev on September 29, Bayraktar announced plans to complete the construction of a Bayraktar drone plant in Ukraine within the next 18 months. According to him, the company is investing a total of some $100 mln in Ukraine. Apart from building a plant, the Turkish manufacturing firm will spend the funds on a service center and its main office in Ukraine, he explained.
In August 2022, plans to build a Bayraktar drone plant in Ukraine were revealed. Ukrainian Ambassador to Turkey Vasily Bodnar said that the construction would take several months and that production could be launched before late 2023. However, the Ukrainian envoy said later that the hostilities "made adjustments to the original plan."

MOSCOW, October 2. /TASS/. Russia’s Battlegroup South has repelled eight Ukrainian attacks in the Artyomovsk and Avdeyevka areas, with the enemy’s losses exceeding 300 servicemen, battlegroup Spokesman Georgy Minesashvili told TASS.
"Battlegroup South units have repelled eight attacks by Ukrainian assault groups in the Artyomovsk and Avdeyevka areas. The enemy’s losses amounted to over 300 servicemen, one Krab self-propelled artillery system, a D-20 weapon, two tanks, a mechanized infantry fighting vehicle, two Strela-10 anti-aircraft missile launchers, a signals intelligence station, as well as seven vehicles and eight drones," he said.
Missile forces and artillery attacked three Ukrainian ammunition depots in Krasnogorovka, Belogorovka and Kramatorsk, as well as troops of the 24th mechanized brigade’s unit near Dzerzhinsk, spokesman added.
Battlegroup South with the help of aviation eliminated a hangar with Ukrainian military equipment in the Donetsk area, Minesashvili said.
"Operational-tactical aviation of the group eliminated a hangar with military equipment, army aviation destructed a temporary deployment site of the 110th mechanized and the 79th air assault brigades of the Ukrainian army in Novomikhailovka and Avdeyevka," he said, adding that the teams of Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower systems hit the stronghold of the 54th mechanized brigade of the Ukrainian army near the settlement of Verkhnekamenskoye in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR).
UK Prime Minister rules out troops sending to Ukraine during conflict

LONDON, October 1. /TASS/. The United Kingdom is not going to send its servicemen to Ukraine as the conflict continues, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on the air with the Sky News TV Channel.
"There are no British soldiers that will be sent to fight in the current conflict," Sunak said. "What the defense secretary was saying was that it might well be possible one day in the future for us to do some of that training in Ukraine. But that's something for the long term, not the here and now," the Prime Minister noted.
The UK Defense Ministry is considering the possibility of deploying British servicemen on the territory of Ukraine to train Ukrainian servicemen and officers, the country’s top defense official Grant Shapps told the Telegraph earlier. The United Kingdom is currently staging such training courses for Ukrainian servicemen in its territory.
