タイはBRICS経済圏への加盟を申請すると、東南アジア諸国政府が火曜日に発表した。

バンコクの内閣は、タイがBRICSに加盟する意向を表明する公式書簡の文章を承認したと、チャイ・ワチャロンケ政府報道官が地元メディアから引用された声明の中で述べた。

チャイによれば、この書簡は、タイが多極化の重要性と国際情勢における発展途上国の役割の増大を理解していることを宣言している。

タイの将来のビジョンはBRICSの原則に沿ったものであり、参加することは、国際舞台での役割の強化や、新しい世界秩序の形成に参加する機会を提供するなど、さまざまな面でタイに利益をもたらすだろう、と書簡は伝えている。

BRICSは、10月下旬にロシアのカザンで予定されている同グループの首脳会議に参加するよう、加盟を希望する非加盟国に呼びかけている。このサミットへの参加は、タイにとって加盟手続きを加速させるチャンスになるだろう、とチャイ氏は語った。

BRICSはもともとブラジル、ロシア、インド、中国、南アフリカで構成されていたが、2024年初めにエジプト、エチオピア、イラン、アラブ首長国連邦が加わった。その後、バーレーン、ベラルーシ、キューバ、カザフスタン、パキスタン、セネガル、ベネズエラなど15カ国が加盟に関心を示している。

拡大したBRICSは、世界経済の約30％、人口約35億人、世界全体の45％を占める。また、世界の石油生産の40％以上を占めている。

国際通貨基金（IMF）によると、購買力平価（PPP）ベースで世界のGDPのうち、G7が30％強であるのに対し、BRICSは現在36％も占めている。新開発銀行（NDB）のディルマ・ルセフ総裁は2月、BRICSは今後4年間で世界の名目GDPでG7を追い抜くことを目指していると述べた。

Tailandia presentará su candidatura para convertirse en miembro del bloque económico BRICS, según ha anunciado este martes el gobierno del país del sudeste asiático.

El gabinete de Bangkok ha aprobado el texto de la carta oficial en la que se expresa la intención de Tailandia de unirse al grupo, dijo el portavoz del gobierno, Chai Wacharonke, en un comunicado citado por los medios locales.

Según Chai, la carta declara que Tailandia comprende la importancia de la multipolaridad y el creciente papel de los países en desarrollo en los asuntos internacionales.

La visión de futuro de Tailandia está en consonancia con los principios del BRICS y su adhesión beneficiaría al país de muchas maneras, entre ellas potenciando su papel en la escena internacional y brindándole oportunidades de participar en la configuración de un nuevo orden mundial, dice la carta.

El BRICS ha invitado a los países no miembros que aspiren a unirse a participar en la cumbre del grupo, prevista para finales de octubre en Kazán (Rusia). Asistir a la cumbre sería una oportunidad para que Tailandia acelerara el proceso de solicitud, dijo Chai.

Originalmente compuesto por Brasil, Rusia, India, China y Sudáfrica, el BRICS añadió a Egipto, Etiopía, Irán y Emiratos Árabes Unidos a principios de 2024. Desde entonces, otros 15 países han manifestado su interés en ser admitidos, entre ellos Bahréin, Bielorrusia, Cuba, Kazajstán, Pakistán, Senegal y Venezuela.

El BRICS ampliado representa alrededor del 30% de la economía mundial y una población de unos 3.500 millones de habitantes, es decir, el 45% del total mundial. También representa más del 40% de la producción mundial de petróleo.

Según el Fondo Monetario Internacional, los BRICS representan actualmente hasta el 36% del PIB mundial en términos de paridad de poder adquisitivo (PPA), frente a poco más del 30% del G7. El BRICS aspira a superar al G7 en PIB nominal mundial en los próximos cuatro años, según declaró en febrero la directora del Nuevo Banco de Desarrollo (NBD), Dilma Rousseff.

Bangkok sees Thailand’s future in a multipolar world, the Asian country’s government has said

Thailand will apply to become a member of the BRICS economic bloc, the government of the Southeast Asian country announced on Tuesday.

The cabinet in Bangkok has approved the text of the official letter expressing Thailand’s intent to join the group, government spokesman Chai Wacharonke said in a statement quoted by local media.

According to Chai, the letter declares that Thailand understands the importance of multipolarity and the increasing role of developing countries in international affairs.

Thailand’s vision for the future is in line with BRICS principles and joining would benefit the country in many ways, including enhancing its role in the international arena and providing opportunities to take part in shaping a new world order, the letter reportedly says.

BRICS has invited non-member countries aspiring to join to take part in the group’s summit, scheduled for late October in Kazan, Russia. Attending the summit would be an opportunity for Thailand to accelerate the application process, Chai said.

Originally composed of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, BRICS added Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran and the United Arab Emirates at the beginning of 2024. Since then, 15 more countries have signaled interest in admission, including Bahrain, Belarus, Cuba, Kazakhstan, Pakistan, Senegal and Venezuela.

The expanded BRICS makes up about 30% of the global economy and a population of around 3.5 billion, or 45% of the world’s total. It also accounts for over 40% of the world’s oil production.

According to the International Monetary Fund, BRICS currently accounts for as much as 36% of global GDP in terms of purchasing power parity (PPP), compared to just over 30% for the G7. BRICS aims to overtake the G7 in nominal global GDP over the next four years, the head of the New Development Bank (NDB), Dilma Rousseff, said in February.
