イルマ・ハービー・アーリーン・ブレッド・シンディ、これって何の名前か分かりますか？これだけでは難しそう。では、カトリーナ。これなら記憶にありますよね。2005年にアメリカ・ニューオーリンズを襲ったハリケーン。「カトリーナ」が巨大な勢力をもって襲ってくるなんて、なんだか、それはそれは、私が小さいときに大好きだった「いばらひめ」のソノシートから流れてくる嵐のようで、ドキドキワクワクの幼い私が出会い、記憶の中に積み重ねられてきた物語の断片につながっていく。あの魔女の名前は「カトリーナ」に違いない。いや、待って。もしかしたら王女様こそが「カトリーナ」かもしれない。
　正義も虚偽も現実も夢も、絶望も希望も、靜も動も、あらゆるものが、裏と表を変えつつ混ざり合い姿を変えながら溶け込む中で、人は単に意味を探していただけなのかしらとふと思うのです。空に点在する星々。それは長い年月を経て壮大な神話になり、空は神々のすむ巨大な物語に変わっていった。私は時々長い歴史を紡いできたそんな人間の生に感動するのです。同時に人は物語を生み出す存在であり、表現者でありたいと願う存在であることに。
