Hacobu released “MOVO Seek”

Feb 10, 2020: Hacobu annouced a new application for its cloud-based logistics solution called "MOVO Seek" as a monitoring service which prevents logistics assets loss.

The service is scheduled to start in April.

Hacobu provides a logistics managment platform, MOVO, with aiming that optimaizing inter-corporation asset transports. MOVO consists of a variety of applications that work with other platform via API and a data storing core. Hacobu currently provides the following applications:

"MOVO Berth": a delivery reservation application to improve waiting time for drivers.

"MOVE Fleet": a traking application which works with IoT devices put on trucks.

"MOVO Match", a matching application finding the best transport company at any time you want.

Taro Sasaki, CEO in Hacobu, says that the number of logistics center using MOVO was 528 sites on January 2019, but it increaced 2204 sites on January 2020, it growthed 4 times in just 1 year.

Visualized lost carts and palltes by IoT

MOVO Seek, today announced as a new application, is the best solution to prevent "Losing assets" that seen as big issues in Logistic market.

Visualizing the “retention” and “loss” of assets can support the smooth operation of logistics companies.

Aoi Ishikawa, a solution architect in Hacobu, says

"10% of assets are lost in one year in general. it's caused from not only making them broken, but also abandant in warehouses, moreover some of them are storlen.

The cost of lost assets have to be reimbuersed by the owner, so it is increasing the total logistic cost.

MOVE Seek can collect the location of carts and pallets just putting IoT devices. the device has water proof, and 7 years battery life.

User don't need other reader (like RF tag), just by putting the IoT device on the asset, user can check area where retention is likely to occur on PC display, and find the route cause of losing assets by tracing those assets.

On their experimentation for one month, they found the fact that 7% of assets were lost. 2% of lost asset were used in other companies, and 5% were abandanted in warehouse.

Sigfox enabling tracking assets

Although many IoT solution had been proposed for long time, there were a lot of issues in terms of durability, message success rate, battery life and total cost.

They adapted "Sigfox" as IoT wireless connectivity. Sigfox is one of LPWA Networks, it has features of low-cost, "low-power-consumption" and "long-range".

Kyocera Communication Systems (KCCS) operates the service in Japan.

MOVO Seek uses "Altas WiFi" provided from KCCS. This service provide device location using Wi-Fi Access Points in Sigfox coverage, and "Altas Native" which can get the location even where is no Wi-Fi APs.

Tetsuro Osako, LPWA Sales manager in KCCS, says:

Sigfox service is lower data rate and smaller payload comparing with 4G and 5G, but We provide the low-cost and low-power service.

7 years battery life is really thanks to Sigfox low power technology.

Population coverage leached 95% in Janualy 2020. By using Sigfox base station and Wi-Fi access points, we can detect the device location by tens meters accuracy.

Sasaki says, we are developing a new application "MOVO Vista", project managment application, releasing in this summer. It's a colaboratoin tool that different companies user can access to a project in whole logistics process. we'll start PoC with a majorcompany soon.
