①Since in a junior high school, a friend and I have been interested in different social issues. Global warming, juvenile delinquency, natural disasters, food crisis are proper examples. And yet, what has worried me the most is that population explosion in several developing countries in recent years. Especially, in Africa and South America, there are too many children for the developed countries to support.

中学時代からずっと、ある友人と私は、様々な社会問題について興味関心を持ってきている。地球温暖化や青少年犯罪や自然災害や食糧危機などは適切な具体例である。しかし私が最も心配していることは、様々な発展途上国における近年の人口爆発である。特にアフリカや南米においては、あまりにも多くの子供達がいるために先進工業国が支援できない状況にある。

②Various kinds of crucial factors result in such a serious situation, I hear.
It goes without saying that many people living in these areas have no choice but to leading a poor life. This is because the salaries of the workers there are dramatically small. As a result, a number of children from such backgrounds must have a hard job in order to sustain their families.

様々な種類の重大な要因が、そのような深刻な状況を生むとのことである。言うまでもなく、これらの地域で生活する人々は、貧しい生活を送る以外の選択肢がない。これはなぜかと言うと、そこで働く労働者の給料が非常に安いからである。その結果として、そのような背景を持つ多くの子供達は、家族を支えるために過酷な労働をしなくてはいけない。

③In addition, their wages are much lower and they work for over eight hours, which might be illegal. What is worse, a lot of working children can't go to school and take an appropriate education.
Due to the lack of the education, many of them could not write and read letters, which makes them illiterate. Actually, people in the industrial nations are said to be responsible for this situation. It is because they reject to build some elementary schools and give them classes or lessons.

更に子供達の賃金ははるかに安く、8時間以上も労働する。そしてそのことは違法なことかもしれない。更に悪いことに、多くの働く子供達は学校に行くことができず、適切な教育を受けることができない。教育を持たないことが理由で、彼らの多くは文字を読んだり書いたりすることができない可能性がある。そのことが彼らを「読み書き不自由」な状況にさせるのである。実際に、先進工業国に住む人々は、この状況に対して責任があると言われている。小学校を作って授業をすることを拒否しているからである。

④According to a newspaper and a TV program, there have been several effective solutions under discussion by talented experts and researchers. However, it is nearly impossible for us to get enough information at a personal level. My conclusion is that I would like to continue learning such critical problems in the college.
If I had an opportunity to go overseas, especially in the developing countries, I want to be busy teaching them something important. We must not avoid being considerate to people in need. This decision will be helpful and useful for my promising future plan, I believe.

新聞やテレビの報道によると、複数の効果的な解決策が、才能あふれる専門家や研究者によって議論されているとのことである。しかし個人レベルで十分な情報を得ることは、ほとんど不可能に近い。私の結論としては、そのような重大な問題を大学で学び続けたいと言うことである。もし海外に行くチャンスがあれば、特に開発途上国に行くことであるが、私は子供達に重要なことを教えて忙しく過ごしたい。困っている人たちに思いやりを持つことを避けることはできない。この決定が私の有望な将来設計に役立つことを、私は信じている。
