彼が大学を受験した頃は共通の一次があった。名前は変わったが今でもある。文法問題がなくなった。あれは英文を読むには重要だが文法そのものは重要ではなくて手段にすぎないはず。
When he was an examinee in 1982, he took the common entrance examination, whose name altered, but the current examinees must take such kind of examination.
But this alternation eliminated almost all grammatical questions from the entrance ones, which is ideal.
It is because knowledge about English grammar is something important in order to understand what an author expresses, but memorizing grammatical items isn’t his or her target or destination, only a means.

テクニカルな文法問題は勉強を続けるうちに慣れてきて解けるようになる。だがそれが解けることは目的ではない。私立大学は今でも入試問題に文法問題が含まれている。悪しき習慣だ。
No matter how technical the questions are, examinees come to answer them because they are accustomed to their difficulty level while they continue studying.
But solving the grammatical questions in English isn’t their target or destination, but they are forced to solve such meaningless questions when they take English tests in the private college, which is an undesirable custom.

否定語が先頭に来たら主語と動詞の位置が倒置される。役職が補語の時は冠詞は不要になる。名詞と名詞で構成される名詞のアクセントは先頭にある。この知識が人間を救うことはない。
When a negative word comes at the head of English sentences, a verb comes before a subject without fail, which is called “anastrophe.”
When a certain person’s position should be used as a complement, we don’t have to use an article.
When a noun is accompanied by a noun, an accent’s position is at the head of the long noun without fail.
These knowledges about something grammatical won’t make a significant and important difference when we read passages written in English, an article says.

あくまでも英語で書かれた文書を読んで理解するためにある。今の共通テストには文法問題はない。いい傾向だ。ただ問題量が多すぎ。それと内容が専門的すぎて読むのに時間がかかる。
We learn about English grammar because it could make it when we understand passages written in English.
The current common entrance examination doesn’t contain any grammatical questions in English, which seems a positive trend, although the length of passages is too large and the number of questions is too large.
In addition, the contents of passages are too technical and specialized, which takes a long time, we assume.
